Hi guys :)
So recently I bought a former police charger 5.7 hemi awd. Once I save up more money and the current engine starts to get older I’d like to keep this car but replace the engine and any other parts needed to handle high performance. My goal is to make this car reliably be able to make 600 hp+ ( and maintain awd if possible ) What is the best engine option that I can chose to build for my goals. What I’m thinking now is a new fully forged 5.7 hemi and super charge it? Or are there other options that can also work on this car that would be practical aswell? I’m willing to spend a lot of money in the future if the final product will be worth it. ( way cooler then buying a newer car imo )

Well there's the rub....with the onboard components you either get 600+ hp OR maintain AWD, unless you're willing to pony up for some re-engineering and more expensive components.

Well if I had to chose I would go with horsepower, and what’s the onboard components?

An awd making 600+hp should be much closer to 3 flat for a 0-60 time. Bone stock Scats making much less power are hitting 3.9 or better 0-60 times. Something doesn't add up.

Hell, my rwd Scat goes 2.8 0-60. Yes, I DO make much more than 600hp, but I'm only using 2 wheels to get off the line.

Hmm, that is pretty true I didn’t even notice that. Stock scats that make 485 hp with rwd should not be on level with 600 hp awd in 0-60. I’m going to try and reach out to that guy from the video and see if he responds.

I'm fairly certain the owner / builder of the car has since sold it and moved on to other projects (Jeeps). I've got a '14 R/T AWD with an Arrington Performance 426. (6.4 base, stroked to 7.0) I do not have exact dyno numbers as I've yet to seek out an AWD capable dyno, but previously was pushing ~450hp / ~450ftlbs to just the rear (AWD disabled) The NAG-1 has been upgraded with a stronger valvebody, but rear diff and T-Case are all original. No one makes upgrades for the AWD platform.

There was another social media poster who had a 7th gen AWD who installed a twin turbo kit, and after testing blew the T-Case. If the internet is to be beleived the stock Borg-Warner Charger AWD T-Case can handle ~500ftlbs, but you won't know for sure until you push it and it fails. I wish to boost my 426 and install a 'Smooth Boost' system, and with a good quality AWD cabable tunner set it up to be gentle at low RPM, then once everything is nice and tight build up the power to higher RPM. But that's all wishful (and expensive) thinking.

Oh wow, how much did it cost to put the 426 in yours? I’ve also been trying to look for cheap used engines ( 6.4 from scats, 6.2 from srt8 ), no luck so far. Also I’m not even sure about how hard or easy swapping those into mine would even be lol. I would probably settle for around 420+ hp if I can do it without spending too much. Also is there a easy way to disable the awd and enable it again when you want? Like maybe around the summer time go crazy with burnouts then around winter time switch into awd and put on some winter tires. Still new to this car but loving it so far.

Starting with a 5.7 and upgrading to a 6.4 beside what a lot of folks will tell you is time consuming, but you do not need everything. Find or purchase a long block engine (block, and heads) then yank the OEM and swap everything. Oil pan, (specific to the AWD cars), valve covers, intake, Throttle body, all front accessories, and re-install. Car will need a true custom tune, (no basic Diablo stuff) from a reliable tunner, but it will all function. Harnesses is the same, and if you keep you 5.7 intake and TB, no extra wiring is needed. Pay a shop to do it? More then the car is worth.

Disabling AWD? Z-Automotive Tazer. That would be the easiest. What did I do? Cut open my fuse box and ran the AWD fuse wire to a switch under my dash. Want AWD, flip the switch, effectively 'pulling' the fuse and braking the circuit. Back to normal? Flip it back and it'll reset and be fine. I'll take all the flak for cutting up my harness and spending to much, my car, my money.

Ok cool, thanks a lot that does give me a better idea of what I want to do. And of course your car your money, it’s unique and sick. And having a switch to turn awd on and off is pretty convenient, might be worth it for me too.

What is the main weakness of the t-case. I just brought home a 2018 AWD Pursuit and am after a similar result, a more mild 500whp would be enough.

Has anyone ever tried buying new T-Internals and having them Cryo treated? I knew going into it, it may be a tall feat.

What I haven't seen throughout this thread is what YEAR this car is; it matters. Early car and you're not doing half of what has been suggested here and it also decides which engines you can use.
