So I was on craigslist and saw this ad

I was wondering if it would be possible to take the Brembo brakes (Calipers and rotors) and put them on my 2007 R/T AWD. Im pretty sure everything would hook up correctly but would the different wheel offsets have an effect on the fitment of the brakes???

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I can't recall hearing about anyone putting the Brembo's on an AWD car, but I do know a guy who has a Wilwood 6-piston setup on his!

Maybe I can just trade my whole car for it.... lol that super bee is beautiful!! I really wish I didn't have an AWD car.... My family thinks that 4WD and AWD are essential for our Iowa winters. I think it helps but there are only like 10 days a year when its really bad...

You have to have the srt hubs for the different mounting brackets and probably a different set of wheels to clear them.

I don't know why you "hate AWD". You can get better brakes and with a performance suspension and engine mods you can outrun and outhandle any stock SRT. Why are you disappointed?

Spend that same $18k from the wrecked Bee on your ride and watch stock SRTs do this...:jawdrop:

Are you having issues with your brakes? I road raced my V6/AWD, which also has the RT brakes, and all I did was put on better pads and high-temp fluid! :bigthumb:

No problems with my brakes yet. When I bought the car the dealer put new pads and rotors on because there was some serious shuddering. I just really like the looks of the Brembo brakes. I might just paint my calipers red. The reason I hate AWD right now is because I was talking to my uncle and he said, "Having AWD is a waste of a Hemi. You can't burn out or have any fun." I don't really care what he says though because I really need AWD to get out of my ridiculous driveway.

As for performance mods that will get me to a stock SRT8. I was thinking of getting a CAI, DiabloSport intune, and cutting the butterfly muffler out. I don't really have much of a budget because as of now I don't have a job (Full time high schooler and track runner) I would love to get rid of the disgusting rims that my AWD came with but I simply don't have the money, or rather I don't want to spend the money.

As for suspension, I would really like to replace my current system. I hate how when I turn a corner the car feels like its going to tip over, even if I don't take it that fast, its just really bouncy. I'm not too keen on the idea of lowering it, but an inch or so wouldn't hurt, plus it would help my cornering. My only concern with lowering the car is scraping and bottoming out. Once I went into a gas station and *CLUNK* I scraped while entering the parking lot... Another time my sister was driving it and ran the bumper into a curb. Thank God that was before the Danko chin spoiler was installed.

I had mine lowered to "stock RT height". If you're on a budget, your best bet is probably BCR Coilovers, they DO make them for the AWD's!

With coilovers, you can lower the car as much (but not "slammed") or as little as you want, then crank it back up for winter.

Nope.
Gotta take the strut/shocks out to change ride height, or at least un-do them on a lift.

When I had the BCR's installed on my '07 AWD, the tech had to adjust the front 3 times and the rear twice before the car sat at the height I wanted. Took forever.
There's way too much pressure on the adjusters to do it with the weight of the car on them.

I think I'm going to wait on any suspension components/ rims and tires. Its too much money. I think I'm going to get a diablo tune and a cai. As well as cut out the butterfly muffler.

I know this is an old thread but your Uncle really has no idea what he's talking about. Pull a single fuse and you can do burnouts to your heart's content. So you can go around like a RWD if that's what you want. Otherwords AWD is a nice option to have and you'll smoke people from a dig.

I too live in Iowa. The AWD is a nice option to have during our winters. I didn't have any issues getting around this past winter with my Charger. Do you still have your AWD?

You can't disable AWD on a 2007 Charger. On the newer chargers you can pull a fuse but not on the older ones.

I see. I thought the awd on the 06-2010 models was electronic but apparently it's mechanical on your model year. I stand corrected. I still disagree with your uncle though. Still plenty of fun to be had with an AWD Hemi. Nice car btw, love that color.

Well I did some more reading and apparently they went from a full time AWD system on the 2006-2008 models to the on-demand system in 2009. There must be a fuse for the driveshaft disconnect on the 2009 and 2010 AWD models then if the system is on demand.
