So I bought my '14 SXT AWD from the dealer and it was a demo model, meaning one of the managers didn't like his personal car so he drove it until it was bought. This means I got a great price on the car and it has been beautiful to drive. But I think he was a go slow peddle masher and my brakes feel very soft, especially when wet. You almost feel nothing of a grab until the last second then it grabs hard and the peddle still moves and it never locks up the brakes (aka ABS kick in) on dry pavement. My 2010 F150 had smaller rotors and pads and I could get the ABS to kick in on dry pavement. I just had too many close calls and so did my wife so I am looking to upgrade the brakes.

Is this something that I should just replace with stock (pads and rotors) and the stiff peddle and feel will come back?

I was looking at EBC Ultimax Slotted Rotors for both front and rear (mainly just for the looks) and EBC Green Stuff pads. I like the idea of R1 Concepts but I like the look of the black zinc coated with the slots being noticeable. Should I be looking at different pads besides the Green Stuff?

Any pointers would be helpful!

Thank you in advance!!

I just installed the powerstop z23 kit on my R/T (13.6 in up front and 12.5 in back) and the brake feel is absolutely amazing. Comes with drilled and slotted rotors, ceramic pads, and new hardware all the way around. I paid 350 dollars from summit and I think it was a great deal.

I really liked the look of the black zinc coating but the surface will wear back to silver quickly and I couldn't make myself spend the extra 300 dollars for that setup.

Brakes don't have adaptives and it is very unlikely that a '14 model has air in the lines. Also, the factory rubber brake lines have a stainless steel braded core so they aren't "bulging". You also won't feel the ABS unless you do a true panic stop in loose pavement (like gravel).

Try doing a test drive on another '14 Charger and see if your brakes really feel any different.

I think you just aren't used to the pedal feel.

Normally I would say you are correct, but I have had the vehicle for 8+ months and it has been my daily driver the entire time. I know the brakes didn't feel like this when I bought it. I know that the rubber lines have a SS braided core, but I figured i would ask anyways. I am taking it into the dealer April 4th to have them looked at since it is still under warranty.

Thanks!

Took it to the dealer, they took off the calibers and tested the pressure in each one. Everything checked out just fine. They explained to me that these rotors have a higher grade polish on them to help increase the working life of the rotors and pads, decreases stopping power by a few % but it increases the pad life by 10%+.

No big deal, thank you for the help!
