Hi Everyone,

I was in the dealer yesterday for regular maintenance and they told me my rear brake pads needed to be replaced (2mm) and front soon (4mm). the dealer quoted me $550 for rear alone, and even with my limited knowledge knew that wasn't going to happen.

I've seen the rave reviews for R1 however it doesn't seem like they will ship to Canada. Does anyone know of a good auto parts retailer in the GTA or online that will ship to Canada.

Also what brands to you prefer.

Thanks!!

$550 just for pads?! Wow! Glad you didn't go through with that deal.

I've always stuck with OEM pads and rotors. Never had an issue with the pads squeeling or anything of the sort, and haven't had premature wear on the rotors (i.e. warped rotors) Except once, but that's because the pads I bought were an aftermarket brand from AutoZone and they had a bad mixture for the pad so they ended up scoring the hell out of my rotors. Since I went back to stock they've been working great.:beerchug:

I'm about 3 hours from Buffalo
Not sure if it would be worth it for you but there's a service called Kinek. It basically allows you to buy and ship items within the US. They have drop points along the border where you can pick up your parts ( or anything else you buy ). I use Border Mail Services in Champlain NY ( about 90 minutes from my house ). I bought my brakes ( rotors and pads ) from R1 Concepts, paid $296 US including shipping, had them sent to my Kinek address and picked them up in the following days. There was nothing close to that price around here. Up to you to determine if it's worth the trip or not.

Thanks for all your imput. I was able to talk to R1 and shipping was going to be about $70 if I recall correctly. I've ended up going with ATE rotors, and Hawk HPS but stuck on the model number HB508F.586 or HB508F.675 - Every site says an opposite one. Has anyone had and (solved) this problem before?
