Hi guys, so I have been looking for an upgrade on brakes for my 2014 Dodge Charger SXT AWD. Looking to replace rotors, brake pads, and calipers. PowerStop ones I found around my price range (around $500) don't have the red calipers in stock. I like the red because it matches the other red accents on my car.

So I have been trying to find either an entirely different kit if you have any recommendations or just finding separate red calipers. I believe the calipers need to be 2 piston up front and single in the rear. I can also wait until the PowerStop ones come in stock but they don't have an eta.

A spray can of high temp brake paint is cheap-- get the parts specified for an RT with 5.7 V-8 from any parts house (NEVER say SXT/ V6 around them or they will give you the same crap parts you already have). I painted the calipers on the BR9 (Police) on my car and BR5 (R/T) on my wifes car:

Wow that looks really good. Do I need to sand down the calipers after cleaning before painting, I assume so. And paint wise do I need a primer and clear coat also besides the red paint? Hows durability on the paint? I've never done this before.

Just clean them off really well with brake cleaner, tape off the pistons & boots on the inside and paint away (I use VHT paint, most auto stores carry it) Warning..the paint will come off if you get brake fluid on it, so be careful when bleeding them.

Yes, just paint them. I've only used the spray until now, but will try the brush on next. This way, I'll be able to paint around letters.

I tried the brush paint, it made a nasty streaky, clumpy mess... I had to clean it off with lacquer thinner and go back to the spray.

Didn't AWD cars all come with the larger 2 piston calipers on front? I don't know a lot about the AWD brakes but confirm whatever kit will work with AWD since your calipers are mounted on the front side of the front knuckle. I wouldn't want to assume the same kits works for AWD without checking (but since you're not replacing the brake lines you should be fine).

If you are going red then spray paint is best, I used a brush on kit on my 2006 but I was just going for flat black so any imperfections weren't magnified.

You can check on Rock Auto too I think they sell just the calipers in red at least they used to.

Yeah the front calipers are 2 piston and the front rotors are already larger like the R/T brakes. I want to get a whole new set for possible upgrade and aesthetic reasons. Maybe ill try spray painting my orginal calipers. Looks like Rock Auto only has single piston calipers that come in red, at least what I could find

Will these brake pads be compatible with 2 piston front calipers and 1 piston rear? Like which options do I choose if you could help me with that.

Last question, you've been so much help already thank you. If I had to choose between Raybesto or Powerstop rotors which would you recommend?

Flip a coin, results will be about the same...but I'm not sure how the Raybestos wiggle rotors hold up to corrosion since the rotor hats are just painted black. The PowerStop rotors are nicely zinc coated and look good for a long time.

PowerStop has the nice powder coated calipers for the front which are nice and smooth. I ordered the set for the AWD rear and it was a guaranteed fit. However, the pistons were halfway off the rotor. I still haven't found a set that fits properly on the AWD REAR without any mods.

Do you have vented 12.6" rotors or the very thin (3/8") solid rotors? There are two different calipers and two different brackets that will fit three different combos:

BR3 (SE/SXT): 12.6" solid rotors with a thin caliper and short bracket
BR5 (RT): 12.6" vented rotors with a thicker (deeper?) caliper and short bracket
BR8 (Police): 13.8" vented rotor with the thicker caliper from the BR5, thinner pads, and a long bracket

Go for it, OP!

I followed Krautmaster's suggestion on the Powerstop and never looked back since!
Add it is good to use different pads (if possible) as the Powerstop Z23 pads dont bite well until they get some heat in them.
The kit came with everything needed - I was even able to use the existing brake lines (you can upgrade to stainless steel if you wish), its basically bolt on.
First thing you will notice is how the car squats instead of nose diving when you hit the brakes!

I went with Part #: KC5456A - there should be an option to upgrade to the Police Z37 pads as well on the site.

It turns out if you have the SXT AWD with the 12.6 inch rear rotors you need part number S4922 from power stop. The S4922A is for the pursuit vehicle for the larger rotors. If you want that set you would have to change the rotor to the AR8371XPR which is 13.7 inches (rear). The only difference is the arm bracket. Given all of this, the power stop kit looks identical to stock calipers except it’s powder coated.
