From what I have read this is a common problem. My blinker multifunction lever has just recently starting messing up when I turn right ( up) and complete my turn it turns off all the time but when I turn left(down) it will stick and sometimes not fully disengage and it makes a loud cracking noise and sometimes it will stay their and somewhat shut off but when
I turn my wheel with no signal it will start cracking and pushing the lever up or down. From what I read im assuming 1 or 3 things is the culprit

1. Multifuntion Level is bad
2. Clockspring is bad
3.Wires somehow are twisted around something causing it to catch.

Some things to think about

1. If It was the lever why is it acting up as I turn my Wheel?
2. I read online that if your clockspring is bad non of your electronics on your steering wheel i.e cruise control or wipers will work....dont know if thats true? And its rather costly to fix (200 to do it yourself or 300 at the stealership)
3. If it was wires why does it intermittently act up?

any help is greatly appreciated, its been causing alot of stress....THANK YOU

My clockspring had to be replaced and all the electronics still functioned correctly. Basically had the same symptoms you described.

When the shop got it out, a chunk about 1.5 inches long was broken out of the ring and just rolling around in the steering column.
