Hey all,
going to buy the Getrag 3.92 LSD kit from speedlogix in a couple weeks, but before I do, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any members here selling a kit or any other places to possibly buy from. Nothing against speedlogix, just shopping around.
Cant post in the Buy n' Sell because I dont have enough posts I think.
Thanks everyone

I've been searching that forum and looking through the classifieds, been finding a lot of older 3.92 FS posts, nothing recent though.

I got mine through Mac Haik Dodge in Tx. Whole package about a year ago parts and shipping to Florida came to less than $1900. You may be able to find all the various parts at online aftermarket stores even cheaper.

*3.92 Getrag LSD part # 5038237AH (Differential)

*axles: LH 4578733AC and RH 4578732AD

*392 coupler is recommended. #68090505AA

*One mounting bolt for center section #6509315AA

*stronger than stock bolts for use with the coupler, known as Pink bolts #68052356AA and the associated nuts #6509429AA

I find it pretty incredible that a muscle car like this come with an open diff from the factory! When I bought mine, naturally, I assumed that it had the LSD. Maybe I'd best look at the window sticker. That's where info like this would be, right?

<grumble, grumble... now where did I put my reading glasses?>

R/T's don't come with them because they're considered to be entry level. Mopar doesn't consider the production 5.7 to be a performance engine, which as built it isn't as compared to the 6.4/392 and the 6.2 (cast crank, cast pistons, etc).

I understand the logic of a base R/T being a family sedan with a little performance and the open diff will give a quieter/smoother ride. But if you order the Road & Track and Super Track Pak options you would hope that the 392 headers and LSD would be included or available as additional options.

My hunch is that FCA kept these away from the R/T in hopes that customers would spend more for a 392 if they wanted these other performance options. Either that or they didn't want to complicate the order and Mfg process. Either way, it just makes it more expensive for owners to add these as aftermarket upgrades.

Well now, don't that just frost yer balls? Looks like I have decided on my first performance mod. :smile2:

Heck, my Miata came with LSD. Part of the suspension upgrade package. No wonder it smiles at the Charger, parked next to it in the garage. (and gloating) :biggrinjester:

The base 5.7 RT is around for 1 reason. Commercial sales.

If it wasn't for that we would have seen the RT upgraded to the 6.1 once the 6.4 came out. NO reason the 5.7 should still be in use. And the 6.1 would have fit fine in the RAM, Jeep & Durango.

The LSD logic was a mess even with the 1st gen SRT. My 07 CSRT8 was an open diff.
