Hello everyone I have a 3.5 dodge charger 09 lately I have noticed my heater fan speeds up when I gun it and my lights dim. But when I hit my breaks my light go bright and my heater slows down. Now I know its the alternator but my question is. I want to solve this and have extra amps for when I add new parts and toys to this car the stock alternator is 160amps if I put a 230amp will I be ok or will I cook my hardware? I would like to know this because today my phone got a warning from my car low voltage and I need to buy one in the next month. Should I go higher if I can or stay at 160. Also can I paint the alternator I am painting car parts under my hood and don't know what I should or shouldn't paint so please help on both.
