ok..I know this has been discussed on here before, but this answer hasn't been explained to good. I wanna install a aftermarket headunit in the charger ( I own a alpine headunit) now I read how the steering wheel controls will effect this installl and can cause major damage if done wrong, but if the car doesn't have the controls on the steering wheel is this still dangerous? also how does it fit with the design of the radio, is there a kit or anything? Has this been done yet? Thanks for any information on this. This site has been great at answering all my questions so quickly!! def a major help to me!

The factory "upgraded" head units, including the nav unit, are made by alpine and supplied to DCX for production units.

I have a Sirius plug-in module on my Alpine head unit in my current car. It is designed specifically to plug into the Alpine. Do you know if this would also be the case on the Charger factory system w/o nav?

i upgraded my HU / put in a new amp, and i didnt attempt to use the steering wheel controls. everything works fine, including the sterring wheel controls / display. when the display would normally show the song / station, it just doesnt show anything.

im happy with it i think steering wheel controls are kinda stupid anyway - fortunately these buttons have different functions on the charger (scrolling through different displays for the lcd, resetting odometers) so im not stck with a bunch of useless buttons in front of me.
