anybody done this? i'm thinking of picking up a 2006 Charger and would like to see if anyone has done this and what their expericences were.

have heard that there are some performance heads available and crane is making cams for the 5.7 that have seen 70 h.p. increase, no word on emmissions though...

I doubt it will be worth the effort until they crack the computer. I would think that after the swap the engine's performance would be a lot closer to the 6.1 than the 5.7; good luck getting a dealer to reflash that. You'd do better putting an SRT8 computer in the car, and then you'd have problems with the ABS because of the rear gearing. So add another $500 on to the swap to put the SRT8 gears in the car.

It can be done, but you'd do better to wait for Superchips or Diablo Sport's tuners to hit the market. The tuner will cost you about the same as the rear gear install, but you'll get a whole lot more for your money - the ability to use any cam, any rear gear set, and any size tires and still have an accurate speedo.
