Hello everyone,
I am thinking about getting a intake manifold and im lost between the 6.1 and the 6.4 manifold .

how much gain am I expecting from each and where on the rpm ?
do I need to do any special mod to the heads or get an "adapter" to install it?
aside from the fuel rails and injectors what do I need for the install?

on a side note , are the 6.4 injectors better than the 6.1 ??

Well, there is a lot more to it than that.

The 6.1L intake is a one piece aluminum static design while the 6.4L is a polymer plastic active design that switches from long tube to short tube runners as needed based on the engine RPM and load. It is PCM controlled and not a simple drop-on like the 6.1L intake is.

The active intake manifold in the 6.4L HEMI SRT V8 consists of shaft-mounted butterfly valves in each cylinder runner of the intake manifold. The valves are on two individual shafts and flip and closed simultaneously rather than being independently controlled. The shaft is turned by a pulse width modulation (PWM) device and a gear on the back of the intake manifold within the PWM controller and connects to the shafts.

The default position for the valves is closed, which directs the intake air, or charge, to long runner mode. Long runner mode allows the airflow to tune properly and enter the chambers for the max torque available.

However, at 4800rpm wide open throttle, the active intake manifold valves are opened, giving the intake charge a straight shot into the cylinder, bypassing the long runner. This mode is referred to as Short Runner. Short Runner mode allows the engine to pack the chamber with as much airflow as possible and therefore make the max horsepower possible.

With your mods IMO it will be a big boost in power down low. The 392 Cam you have makes most of the power gains at 4000 rpms and above. It is one of the cheapest mods for the gains you get. Here is the link to my thread. The module that DDaddy refers to is on the back of the 392 Intake manifold. Just make sure if you get a take off intake that it comes with the actuator in the back.

What are your long term goals? The 6.1 can be ported and will outflow the 6.4. If your planning on stroking in the future the 6.1 is your best choice due to the ability to port and that gives it more flow in the upper rpms.

I used the MM 87mm TB but with my baby cam IMO it was a waste of money. LOL I will have to check on the torque requirements for the bolts. I believe I just tightened them down until they were snug not over tight.
