Hey guys, I'm going to be getting some new 20x9 wheels pretty soon here, and I am looking at either putting 245/45/20 or 275/40/20 on all four corners. I'm pretty much set on the nitto motivos right now. I thought about doing a staggered setup, but I really want the tires to last and I want to be able to rotate, so that's out for now.

I've talked with a couple of members about advantages/disadvantages going with this setup, but I wanted to see if I could get some more feedback.

I'm concerned about my steering getting a heavier feel up front with the beefier tires. Has anyone that has upgraded in tire size felt this with the 275s? I will be going from an 18 inch wheel and 235/55/20 tires on a 2014 RT.

I'm also planning on lowering a little bit. I don't want the slammed cambered look, but just to eliminate some wheel gap. So far, those that I have talked to have said the the wheel I'm going with (20x9 with a 20mm offset) wont present a problem as far as fitment with 275s in the front. Does anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I have 275/40-20 on all 4 corners of my SRT and love it! As far as steering feel, well my SRT's always had a heavy steering feel, so I can't say I've felt much difference other than definitely more confidence in the corners (less understeer). I'm running Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires. I was going to get Nitto Motivos, but at only $130ish per tire I couldn't pass up the Sumitomo's. Got them from Tirerack. They're a relatively new tire and didn't have many reviews. Gave them a shot, and so far I love them as much as the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires I previously had.

I would be careful with 275's up front on an R/T.

In some cases they fit; other cases not. For sure you should be fine on the back though.

For sure on the SRTs lots of people run 275/40 on all four corners no problem. I never noticed any difference with the steering when I went from 245s to 275s on my 2010 SRT8.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you can't tell much of a difference steering wise. I'm going with the motivos because they have good reviews and a good warranty.

RT or SRT?

Thanks flex. I've seen where those with SRT's have no problems. And then I've seen where some with RT's have been fine and others aren't. America's tire did say they'd do a test fit for me.

If it was an SP charger with stock 20x9 would it have same effect as R/T vs the SRT that some 275 might not fit? or the spindle set up of the SP can use any 275 up front without issues?

I would think that they'd fit a scat pack. Actually I know they do because I know some with the scat pack have done this. But the scat pack has the four piston brembos, which were standard on the srt until 15. That means the spindles should be the same as the older srt.

Funny because I was in the same position as you a few months ago. I had a 2014 R/T and upgraded to 20x9 viper reps wrapped in 275/40/20 nitto motivos on all 4 corners. Very smooth and amazing in the rain. I actually have the wheels and tires for sale which I will be posting up soon! Here are a few pics of those tires on my Charger.

It really won't feel "heavier" but what you will feel is a bit of a delayed turn-in sensation when cornering. It's not that the turn-in is really delayed, it's that it becomes quite a bit quicker as the turn progresses due to the wider tire.

You will adapt to it soon enough and won't notice it pretty quickly. After that, you will appreciate the front handling characteristic.

There is a reason the 2015 SRT and Hellcats have 275/40/20 all around. ;)

Nice man thanks for that! Were you lowered at all? If you don't mind me asking...why are you selling them?

Interesting, so it feels slower but is actually quicker?

Can I expect a decrease in mpg? I don't care too much about this but just wondering what to expect.

LOL if I could afford 275's on a new srt I'd do it:D

Well, it only seems slower at first since the turn-in becomes quicker as it progresses.

I never noticed any change in MPG at all.

Besides, it's a Charger, not a Prius. If you want MPG...buy a Smart Car. :grin2:

No problem bro ask away. Like I said I was in the exact same boat as you. I was not lowered and did not rub. I had no clearance issues which I was very worried about and Ddaddy was the one who actually helped me out and made it clear I would have no issues. I just put them up for sale under the "parts for sale/wanted" topic.

I ended up trading my charger in for a 2014 Mustang GT :).

Yeah there are some very knowledgeable people on here, ddaddy is definitely one of them.

How close were you to rubbing up front? Do you think you would have had any room to lower?

I was far from. I actually did end up buying eibach sportline springs to do the drop bought the Mustang came in the way and I returned them. Again, Ddaddy even helped me out when I had a question regarding the drop and rubbing in one of my previous threads. There was a lot of wheel gap it killed me while I ran my set up.

Congrats on the mustang by the way. But yeah there is too much wheel gap for me. I don't want to be too low, there is such a thing as too low IMO haha, but less wheel gap would be nice.

Do you know what thread it was that you had? I searched but couldn't find much.
