Hi my name is Alex. I always wanted a v8 AWD and couldn’t find one until I stumbled upon the 2014 Dodge Charger RT AWD. Is it worth trading in my 2019 GT AWD for a 2014 RT AWD? What will I be losing if I trade in? I don’t really care about the technology in the car like apple car play. The reason why I want a rt awd is because of the look, the aggressive sound, and more HP obviously lol. I currently have a pedal commander and aFe momentum GT on my 2019 GT AWD I would basically do the same thing if i were to get a 2014 RT AWD. Please give me all the feedback and info and be kind 😎

Definitely a noticeable power increase going from a 3.6 to a 5.7. If that's your bottom line going from a V6 to a V8, then go for it.

You'll be going from an 8 speed to a 5 speed transmission, but it wouldn't stop me. That 5.7 will still spank the 3.6 down the street. Might lost a few mpg's, but I'm sure you know that.

Interior wise you might be losing a few goodies, but that's your call. I went from a fully optioned 2010 AWD R/T to a hardly any options 2013 SRT8 Super Bee. I'd do it every single time as I like the power.

What's the mileage on the 2014?

So far I’ve seen some go from 50k miles to 180k miles I’m just nervous to pull the trigger because I’ll be going from a 2019 w/ approximately 31k miles to a 2014, you know?
Do you still have the super 🐝,?

Last gen RT's are super good looking and still pack a punch my cousin has a modified SRT-8 and man it is nasty. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2014 SRT/RT off the looks and seeing how good they looked modified with headlights and etc if I didn't get the scatpack. It's obviously a definite upgrade in power ofc its an older model so you won't get some of the updated options but not a big deal to you it seems, I got my Scat barebones no options Idc about fancy options I wanted the car look and power. My thing would be very careful in looking and ofc make sure you thoroughly check and ensure the vehicle is in good condition with no issues or very minor ones last thing you want is ana bused one with major mechanical dings but I'm sure you already know this

I have a 2012 SRT with 95k miles and I’d buy it over again every time idk if the RTs come with it but I know my car has a couple option not offered in the newer scats heated and cooled cup holders etc uconnect is still super fast responding and works really smoothly so no real difference there i love the look of the 12-14 SRT/RT better than the newer but both look good whichever you decide but I’m also slightly biased to my model year lmao

Hi Alex:
Welcome to the forum. You probably know that '14 was the last year for the civilian V8 Charger to have AWD. That's why I bought one, instead of a '15. Have you driven a V8 Charger yet? The Challenger is a nice ride, but I prefer 4 doors, and the view out the rear of the Challenger is pretty narrow due to its design.

Given the current market, I'd try to sell your '19 outright and then go find and buy the '14 AWD you want. One thing re the AWD, the color selection was fairly limited. Mine is Billet Silver. Not my first choice, but I don't care for Black or White.

I am going to disagree with people here, options matter. The difference between a Charger and a Charger Plus is huge, you'll hate not getting those options down the road. Going from a new car to an old is a huge cost of comfort decline. You'll regret your HP bump when you realize your car doesn't warm up in the morning by itself on that first 30° day.

My '14 R/T has remote start. I think I've used it 2 -3 times since I bought it in '16. It stays in the garage though when not in use, so cold weather is normally not an issue for it.

What options would he be missing in a R/T compared to a GT? It's probably going to be minimal unless he opts for a Pursuit.

My 2013 Super Bee has remote start just FYI. That 2014 probably does too. If he doesn't care about the options as much, as he stated, probably won't be much of an issue.

My 2013 is missing these compared to my 2010;

-leather seats - do miss them but cloth keeps you planted in your seat
-sunroof -didn't use it
-navigation - use Waze
-heated seats - hate them

There's a few more but I can't think. Off the top of my head I can't really think of anything much that may potentially be missing in a GT.

I'm not a fan of all the new add ons, it's more stuff than can and does break.

Idk what options you’re saying it wouldn’t have my 12 has leather and alcantara heated cooled seats heated mirrors auto dimming rear view mirror and side view sunroof red interior heated cooled cup holders navigation pretty much everything but ACC is on this car so idk what options he’d miss out on and he’d have more power and more fun

Yeah look for a car with the options you want. Which might be kind of tough when awd are harder to find.
An alternate would be get a nice awd pursuit then swap the nicer interior and all that into it.

There's usually a bunch of 5.7 AWD cars in my area, but they were pretty popular in my area anyway due to the snow. Not sure where he's at though. Some of the AWD R/Ts like the one I had were fully loaded.

Except of getting car with much higher mileage, you are not loosing a thing, and I think it worthy trade.
My '14 RT being base (or maybe 'plus') has all 'convenience' goodies, and probably I should've go for AWD to feel more confident in Ontario winters.
