2014 Racing Info - LX & Beyond Nationals - LXBN7 - MSHSseries

2014 SEASON RULES

General Rules and Procedures:

1. Qualifying: All Race Cars competing in the heads up classes must make a minimum of one qualifying run during race day in order to compete in the elimination rounds. If a racer fails to make a complete run down the track, but does break the start beam, they will qualify in the last position for the class. It will be the track and managing MSHS staff’s discretion as to the number of qualifying runs on race day.

2. Tree Type: ALL classes will qualify and compete on a .500 PRO TREE

3. Elimination Rounds: Pairing will be based on a Pro Ladder. Heads-up classes will be laddered beginning with round one of eliminations. Qualifying slot will be based on ET for all heads-up classes. Identical ET will be laddered based on MPH. All cars that qualify below the Indexed ET are placed at the bottom of the ladder; larger breakout at the bottom.

The INDEX Bracket class will begin eliminations based on how racers proceed to and line up in staging lanes. Once the INDEX class is down to 16 or less cars, the field of cars will be paired based on a PRO Ladder. Pairing will be based on reaction times during the previous round of eliminations.

4. Lane choice: Heads-up first round lane choice goes to the higher qualifier in the pairing. Round two and subsequent rounds, lane choice goes to the car with the quicker ET.
INDEX Bracket lane choice will be based on reaction times during the previous round of eliminations and should be discussed by the paired racers.

5. Staging: Courtesy staging will be in effect during all qualifying and elimination rounds.
If a driver inadvertently lights both Pre-Stage and Stage bulbs, they will be backed out and restaged.
Deep staging is discouraged and disqualifies a racer from any and all best reaction time awards.

6. Break Downs: If a racer’s car is NOT capable of moving forward in the competition rounds, they must notify MSHS or track staff timely so that there are no racing delays.
Should a vehicle break down on the track, move over immediately towards the outside of the lane to prevent track delays.

7. Safety Rules: NHRA safety rules are in affect at all events and it is up to the track personnel to handle all safety rule infractions and or complaints. Track rules must be adhered to by all racers.**

8. Cheating – Non-compliance to the MSHS rules will not be tolerated and will earn a disqualification from ALL competition. Disqualification does not entitle a racer to a refund of any entry fees.**

9. Break Out Any vehicle running quicker than the Index ET reference in a class is a break out loss.

10. Safe Racing - All racers should run their car at its full capabilities. Unsafe driving techniques such as hard braking at the top end to avoid a break out will be reviewed and can result in disqualification at the discretion of track officials and/or MSHS staff.

Any racer caught substituting drivers or driving more than one race car during rounds will be immediately disqualified from the whole track event, along with the race car.

Attendance point
- Each Racer MUST complete one qualifying run or break the starting beam(under its own power) during a qualifying run with his/hers competing car to earn attendance point for the respective heads up class.

Class Exemption -
A Racer is allowed a one-time Heads-Up class exemption for the season. If a racer normally runs a specific heads up class and his/her race vehicle is incapacitated, the racer will be allowed to run a substitute vehicle (which meets the Index Bracket Class rules) in his

Cliff Notes Version of the Racing Info:

2014 Race Classes:
  • Unlimited
  • Super Pro
  • Pro
  • Modified
  • Super Stock
  • Street
  • Index
It is pretty straight forward but basically its this:
  • Unlimited - Heads Up for insane race cars
  • Super Pro- Heads Up for super fast cars with just a few changes from last year.
  • Pro - 9.50 index heads up racing.
  • Modified - 10.50 index heads up racing.
  • Super Stock - 11.50 index heads up racing.
  • Street - 12.50 index heads up racing.
  • Index - same as it used to be with very minor changes, bracket style setup.

So unlimited and super pro are still true heads up racing. The rest of the heads up classes no longer have equipment rules etc... now you just run the class index heads up and you cant go faster than the class ET. So you leave at the same time heads up and whoever gets to the end first wins but cant go faster than whatever the class index is.

Please feel free to ask questions and we may catch mistakes in the rules but the core setup is final.

2014 Brings New Racing Class for True Street Racers

LXBN7 True Street Class: Rules and Prize Purse

We are pleased to announce that in 2014 in addition to the Modern Street Hemi Shootout Series we will be hosting one of the most popular drag racing classes in the country, an LXBN True Street Class. Whether you are a beginner or a veteran racer, with a bone stock or heavily modified car this is an event that nearly every LXBN participant can enjoy. You will be racing for consistency without going over ET.

This race class is for true street cars which are registered, licensed and insured street vehicles and able to drive over a 30-mile distance, then return to the race venue for a cool-down and make 3 quarter-mile passes down the drag strip. All model years and engines types and power adders permitted. MUST BE CHRYSLER BODY AND POWERED. This is a Mopar event so there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule.

Class is designed for stock-chassis vehicles running true 10.5-inch wide tires. RACING SLICKS PROHIBITED

There will be trophies and awards for not only the “King of True Street” (quickest average), and runner up but also for the following: closest averaged ET that is not quicker than the following: 9.00, 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, and 15.00.

LXBN True Street Class Purse:

$250 – Quickest Average + 6' Trophy
$100 – 2nd Quickest Average
$100 – 9.00 Average
$100 – 10.00 Average
$100 – 11.00 Average
$100 – 12.00 Average
$100 – 13.00 Average
$100 – 14.00 Average
$100 – 15.00 Average

Cruise is mandatory in the time allotted for competition. Any vehicle unable to complete the road tour under its own power, within the allotted time, will be disqualified from racing.

After the vehicles return from the road tour, they will return directly to the designated staging lanes for a cool-down period. They may not change tires. The cool-down period will typically last between 15-45 minutes. During this cool down period only, entrants may adjust tire pressure (add or remove tire pressure), install fresh nitrous bottles, install ice in their intercooler, (only if located in trunk, rear hatch or rear seat area). A VERY STRICT CLOSED HOOD POLICY WILL BE IN EFFECT UNTIL A COMPETITOR HAS COMPLETED HIS OR HER THREE BACK TO BACK PASSES.

Engines must remain turned off during entire cool-down period. External cooling of engine by any means (cold water, outdoor fans, etc.) prohibited. Any engine changes, repairs, or adjustments (changing rocker arms, carburetor adjustments, etc.) prohibited. Changing of tires prohibited.

Tire pressure may be checked in the staging lanes, or between rounds, and may be lowered. Air may not be added to tires any time during the back-to-back passes after the first pass down the quarter-mile and fresh nitrous bottles, fuel, and ice may not be installed/replenished.

All vehicles are required to make three full passes in order to be included in the final average ET tally. All vehicles must run three passes in the same order as the first pass. After passes are completed, each racer’s ET’s will be added together and divided by 3.

Attention Car Show Participants: IMPORTANT

Is it possible to participate in both car show and racing competitions? Yes. Times will be posted for each vehicle judging window. It is your responsibility to pay attention to PA announcements for both activities. If you make a pass down the track before your window the judges will take it into account.
(i.e. 2006-2010 Charger (9:00am); 2008-2010 Challenger (9:20am), etc.)

Will car show participants be allowed to make passes down the drag strip? No. Due to insurance restrictions and racing car volume there will be no “open runs”. A tech inspection and tech card will be required for any vehicle making passes down the track. (No Exceptions)

What if I want to make some passes down the track but not compete? Racing participants that are not participating in Modern Street Hemi Shootout can run Test & Tune during announced time slots. A tech inspection will be required and entry fee will be the same as other racing participants.

2014 changes to the “Best of Show & Go” Award: Please be advised that a requirement for qualifying in the “Best of Show & Go” competition will require participation in one of the Modern Street Hemi Shootout or LXBN True Street activities over the weekend. In the event of tie, end position will be used.

Thank you!

Once again, I would like to thank everyone that made the trip out and all of the sponsors that supported the 2014 LX & Beyond Nationals and Modern Street Hemi Shootout Series this year at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, OH. Hands down this was the best LXBN to date. If you missed the event this year you really missed out on an experience. We are excited for the future. It was a tough decision to move back to Columbus because we have built so many bonds and relationships with everyone in Northeast Ohio but deep down we knew we had to get back to our roots and bring it back to where it all began.

Huge thank you to our host sponsor Automax Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (Delaware, OH) for coming onboard in our return, bringing out some beautiful rides and coordinating the goodies from Mopar. Thank you to my Central Ohio LX Club for all of their help before and during the event, especially Kyle Fischer (Mr. “WWW” – whatever/whenever/wherever) and Jamie Collingwood (photographer/graphic artist) for handling miscellaneous projects, messages and phone calls throughout the planning process. I promise I won’t email or call you anymore for at 2 weeks (ok, maybe 10 days)  Once again, hats off to the entire MSHSseries Staff, Dan Van Horn, Stell, Wendy, and many more. Last, but definitely not least, thank you to all of the many sponsors that supported (and attended) LXBN7 and will continue supporting the Modern Street Hemi Shootout Series thru the remainder of the 2014 points series.

National Trail Raceway and many businesses in the nearby City of Newark have already reached out to us to confirm details for next year’s event which is a testament to all of YOU. That’s the kind of positive impression that all of YOU made on our return to the area. So, to answer the inevitable question, YES, we intend to return to National Trail Raceway in 2015. Tentative date will be Saturday, July 25, 2015.

***We are still wrapping up post-event details, so just want to let folks know that we have not forgotten about you and please feel free to call, email, text, etc. with any questions or concerns. True Street winners your goodies will be on the way shortly we had an awards mix-up and the manufacturer did not have the items to do them before the event so we will get them mailed to you. Please make sure the address we have on file for you is the correct mailing address so there is no delay. Also, everyone please take 7 minutes to fill out the online survey when you receive it. We want to make 2015 even better!!!

Thank you.
