I was drving home on a 70mph interstate on saturday the 22nd, and my enigne just died and shut off completely. I glanced down at the guages while trying to slow down from 80mph and wrestle the wheel over to the shoulder and saw a few things light up. The check engine light was tripped and the lightning bolt on the guage cluster was illuminated. after putting the transmission in park, i tried turning it over whith no luck. i then noticed a small amount of blackish smoke coming from the engine bay and i thought i heard a small metalic click as the engine was turning over. The engine was hard to turnover at first, then it was smooth like normal, but still did not start. I actually carry my predator tuner in my trunk, so while wating for the tow truck for 90 mins, i pulled the codes from the ODB and got these 2:

cam shaft postion code
throttle pedal/position sensor code

i didnt write the # codes down, stupid i know, but i do remeber what the odb said as written above. i checked this link out: http://dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-ram-diesel/90474-diagnostic-trouble-codes-full-list.html to try and rememeber the numbers, but they all looked similar to me.

My car was towed to my hometown chrysler dealer and im waiting for the phone call of bad news as we speak. i have an extended bumper to bumper warranty, so hopefully i wont be paying for this.

any advice or insight on this issue would be MUCH appriciated, as i have had ZERO issues with my car, its only at 91,000 miles and im very frustrated.

update:
just got off the phone with the dealer. The timing chained snapped while my car was still in motion, damaging internal head components. They werent very specific as to what components were damaged, but im assuming alot of intake and exhaust valves/ pushrods were bent to hell and back. They are replacing both heads and components FREE of charge thanks to the powertrain warranty.

anyone else expierience this issue?

Lots of people have; there is a recall on the timing chain guide--on models with 3.06 rear gears a harmonic vibration sets up at 70-80 mph while the MDS is on and the timing chain guide vibrates and eventually breaks, snapping the timing chain:
