I am looking at a 2009 3.5 that was previouse use as a rental unit. The price is very good, but just found out that it was just in for warranty work on the real axle seal. Is this something that is a really big deal. The car has 18 000 miles on it. Would this be something to make you walk away from the deal?

Thanks

As long as its been fixed properly and is still under warranty, I don't see a problem with it.

I was at the dealership yesterday getting my axle seals replaced (07' 3.5L). Not a major leak, just looks like the diff is sweating some of the oil out. Dealership said it's common with the cars on this platform. It's apparently a Mercedes manufactured rear end that seems to have this flaw. I was very lucky that the dealership snuck me in for warranty replacement, as I'm 3,000 km's off warranty. I wouldn't worry about it since it's been fixed and warranty will be a nice peace of mind.
