So I bought a 2007 Plum Crazy Daytona Charger in 2007, and we just bought a 2014 Black R/T Max Charger. I've been driving the new Charger, and noticed some obvious differences.

The R/T Max is fully loaded with almost all the options, including safety features (which seems to be important to my wife) and AWD. I can listen to my music on my phone via Bluetooth, remote start my car, and lock/unlock start/stop my car while keeping my keys in my pocket. But even though it has a Hemi, it feels like I'm driving a sedan. The 5.7L HEMI does pickup pretty well.

My Plum Crazy Daytona Charger doesn't have a ton of options, but looks sporty and sounds awesome. The sport bucket seats wrap around my body and keeps me stationary while zooming through curves. It doesn't do great in rain or snow, but is definitely more fun.

Guess I got to see (and drive) two sides to the Charger... which side did you choose?

That's pretty cool, I wish I had the means to have a couple of chargers. I bought a 14 RT in August and I love it. I came from an 08 SE, so the RT was a huge upgrade for me with all the added features, and the best part... the HEMI power.

Does your daytona have an aftermarket exhaust on it?

I will say that one thing I am unimpressed with in these cars is the exhaust. It's just too quiet. I'm currently saving to get a corsa catback, because stock just won't do for me any longer.

Both your cars are great, enjoy them!

I went with the Max AWD b/c I wanted the power of the Hemi with the AWD, to be able to handle weather and poor driving conditions in the winter. If I lived in a more temperate area I would have looked much more closely at the SRT.

It is a matter of choosing the options that best meet your needs.

In any case, you are fortunate to have two great cars.

Love the plum crazy, it's a timeless color! Your newer Hemi should have a little more power than the '07. But if I'm not mistaken your daytona should have the better gear ratio making it seem quicker than your newer RT.

The seats in the RT and RT max aren't great, but they're fantastic in the road and track. They are just like the seats in your daytona, very plush and the bolstering is excellent.

The daytona came with a special sport tuned exhaust from the factory, that's why you notice the sound difference. The stock exhaust on the 11+ chargers is blah, I was happy when I replaced mine.

Enjoy!

Has anyone replaced the stock muffler with a performance muffler, like a Flowmaster Super 44? If so, how does it sound? Seems like a cheaper option than replacing the whole exhaust.

Of those two cars I would take the PCD any day.

But nice that you have both. Congrats.

did u notice power lose on your exhaust cutout? I read some member said it will lose power but some don't.
It depends on where in the system they are installed. Too far forward and you can lose exhaust scavenging efficiency and lose power as a result.

The AWD system adds weight so this is likely why the 14 doesn't feel as fast. Also, your Daytona likely has the sportier suspension package. While the base R/T suspension isn't overly cushy, it's not as tight as the suspension in models with the Road & Track package or STP.

The Dayton definitely has the sportier suspension package, although after 100,000 miles it's not as nice as new. It just feels more like a sports car. Although, after adding stripes to the Black AWD, it almost "feels" faster. :)
