I just hope that he was smart enough to realize that his 10k bonus will get taxed to the tune of 22%. $7800 won't go very far with his lofty plans, and neither will that $1600/mo paycheck as an E-1...

Closer to 27% (that's what all mine were) and I tried to tell him that early on lol

Yeah, it used to be 27% but they dropped it to 22% at the start of FY-18. Now the boots get to keep a few more bucks in their pockets.
