The Protector environmental protection package
My dealer has offered an environmental protection package offered by ECP, Inc. (Entire Car Protection) that will protect against the following:
Acid rain - 5 years
Bird droppings - 5 years
Tree sap - 5 years
Exposure to sun - 5 years
Loss of gloss - 5 years
Fading chalking - 5 years
Surface rust - 5 years
Rust perforation - 10 years
Interior protection - 5 years
Fabric - 5 years
Leather - 5 years
Sound shield - lifetime
The first 7 items in regards to the paint. This paint protection product is a polymer-based sealant that literally bonds to the paint. It can only be removed with straight mineral spirits or sand-paper. The only thing that needs to be done is to re-apply a cleaner-type product about every 6 months.
The rust perforation protection is achieved by spraying a product (parafin-based) up into the weep holes of the doors, rocker panels, quarter panels, front fenders, upper frame rails, trunk lid, hood, and wheel well areas.
In addition, a separate undercarriage product (petroleum-based) is sprayed onto the wheel wells, fender lips, body floor supports, gas tank / support straps, brake lines along body or frame, all exposed sheet metal, and the gravel shields. The bonus is that this product also has a sound-deadening effect as well.
The leather protection package is a spray that is designed to protect against UV rays, mold / mildew, and stains.
Now for the question...has anyone used this package or something similar? The cost would be $549 for all 4 items (paint, interior, undercarriage, and body panels, etc.), which seems reasonable. Any other thoughts?
