Battery in trunk???

Why would Dodge place the battery in the trunk of the charger? Is this because of no space under the hood? Its located in the spare tire wheel well next to the spare tire.

In the engine compartment next to the computer and relays there is a location with the positive terminal to place the jumper cables if you need a jump.

Re: Battery in trunk???

Placing the battery in the trunk is the first thing a drag racer does to get as close to a rear weight bias. Dodge tried and did damn well for a 50/50 weight bias and thats why

Re: Battery in trunk???

I was glad to see the battery is in the truck.... with so little engine bay space... easier to do my dual battery controller setup.....

no need to ever worry about a dead battery when all you have to do is flip a switch and start the car...

Edit: oh and yes, as posted above weight distribution is a big reason for it as well....

Re: Battery in trunk???

Because Dodge and Chrysler for that matter are now owned by Mercedes you are going to see a lot of German ideas in the domestic car. The battery in the trunk is a German "thing"... Makes it a whole lot easier running an amp cable to a sub box now!

Re: Battery in trunk???

Better than the battery location on an LH. Takes 3/4 hour to change the battery on an Intrepid.
