The Dodge Durango is about to haul families around a little quicker.
The American brand has released the 2018
Dodge Durango SRT, packing three rows of seats and 475 horsepower from a 6.4-liter V8. The quarter mile time for this beast has been verified at 12.9 seconds, while the jump up to 60 mph takes 4.4 seconds.
A wide body design sets the SRT model apart, while a newly designed hood with a functional cold-air duct and heat extractors help to keep the powerplant cool.
The big V8 is hooked to an eight-speed automatic
transmission, sending all 470 lb-ft of its torque on to all
four wheels. Drive modes will help to tailor the Durango’s performance to a number of situations, including Track Mode, which sends 70 percent of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels and speeds up shift times.
Each driving mode also changes the settings on the active damping system, while stiffer front and rear springs and a stiffer rear sway bar help to keep this big brute planted. The modes are: auto, sport, track, snow, tow, valet and ECO.
