Whining noise (not just me)

After 1,600 miles I am hearing a whining noise from under the hood when accelerating - it also does it in park when revving. It sounds almost like a bad alternator or water pump and might even be descibed like a supercharger whine. Does it with or without the AC on. Could it be in the transmission?
I have not taken it to the dealer yet - thought maybe someone hear could give me some ideas.

Re: Whining noise (not just me)

Have you done any mods? Cold air intake maybe?
Have you been in the stock air box?

Re: Whining noise (not just me)

I got it... right after the air intake upgrade. Sounds like a very low whine... and it changes in pitch with more acceleration. Like a mini-me supercharger sound. Never gave it a thought though as a problem.

THanks. Now I can hear mine doing it. I'll be ignoring it unless something blows up or falls off.

Well, I took it to the dealer today and he said it is normal and is actually coming from the transmission. They have had three others to come in recently with the same complaint.
It may be normal but I hate it! Sounds like there is no fluid in the power steering pump. It makes me think something is about to break loose.

Re: Whining noise (not just me)

Nope orchard dodge.

This is my fix it list!

1. Knock at idle when warmed up. Was told it could be the valve everyone keep's refering too.

2. Whine right before it shifts.

3. Sqeeks and rattles from several locations

4. Brakes are also making noises.

5. Rough idle.

6. Chrome trim ring around shifter is extremly loose.

All in all im pretty pissed off at this point in time. I cant blame the dealer though.
