Lug Nut Covers ????

Looked at the front passenger side wheel and at first thought that I was missing a lug nut. Then I noticed a copper colored nut with an open end.....it looks as if the silver head of the lug nut came off leaving the copper section...any one else have that problem ? Is the chrome part of the lug nut just a cover of sorts ??

Re: Lug Nut Covers ????

They are just a cover for the lug nut. I had to have the wheel swapped and they rounded the "lug" had to hammer a socket onto the lug to get it off. I'll be buying some real lugs soon.

Re: Lug Nut Covers ????

Last year when my Winter rims were installed, the tops of one of the lugs broke off. I also noticed that the lugs get "rounded" fairly easy. I think I'll replace mine as well. They don't seem to be very strong.

Re: Lug Nut Covers ????

Had the same problem and found the dealership was using the wrong size socket to remove the lugs. They had to replace all the lugs on the wheels because of damage to the beauty caps.
