Synthetic oil.

I've been wanting to try synthetic oil in my RT for some time. Well the change oil indicator went off so that was my Que. Went with Mobil one 100% synthetic. Autozone had a deal with a filter on 5 quarts. So I bought two. Wow. Im impressed. I instantly noticed the engine was much quieter. Best part is that on a cold start the hemi tick was completely gone. Go figure.

Get the extended use Mobil 1, it's closer to the old Mobil 1 formula than the "new" Mobil 1 formula.

Regular Mobil 1 is not exceptional, like it used to be. New M1 extended use, IS exceptional.

Try Walmart, they usually carry the 5 quart jugs for about $24 of M1 xtd use.

Get the Mopar, Motorcraft or Wix filter. Avoid Fram!

As far as off the shelf oils go, I would put Pennzoil Ultra as my personal favorite. Mobil 1 isn't as solid of a performer as it used to be from what I understand. I run Amsoil signature series in my Hemi, 0w-20. I'm planning on doing 15k mile drain intervals with filter changes every 5,000 miles (mopar filter).

I had a mopar filter with the dino oil. Never again. It leaked oil. Even after I tried to retighten. Dealer did that oil change. So I went with the Mobil one extended life filter this time. I actually prefer Castro full syn. Oil but it was not on sale. Walmart is cheap for oil but for $32 for a jug and high end filter at Autozone it was a pretty good deal.

I think Pennzoil is what comes in the srt8. This is the oil that the stealership uses if u request full syn.

I got one free O&F with my purchase. At 1200 miles I had the dealership put in syn, which they say is Pennz Ultra.

Don't notice any differences.

Moving from mineral to PAO synthetic will reduce your amount of vapor loss as the mineral oils have up to 35% reactives that go out of the PCV. The PAO has only 15% reactivity so that is better. QuantumBlue has 3%!

Next time consider stepping it up even more with QuantumBlue Custom Blended Lubricants. If you think Mobil 1 made a difference, just wait till you get a change of QB!

Custom designed for your use and good for 10k miles initially. 12,000 to 14,000 miles after that. Costs a little more up front but cheaper and better in the long run!

Brian

I gotta co-sign with RT_HEMICHARGED on the Pennzoil Ultra. Never used Mobil or Amsoil...

Just an FYI, Mobile One does not meet the Chrysler spec. IIRC the spec has something to do with extended testing. Having said that, I've used it in my 2006 GTO for 7 years and it has been fine.

I am using Pennzoil Ultra in my R/T. That is what the Dodge dealers are using if you request a full synthetic.
