Unhappy 2007 SXT Charger (high output V6) making ticking/knocking noise

Please help.....my charger just started to make a strange ticking/knocking noise over the past 3 days or so. It is not happening all of the time but more frequently it seems as the days go by. I hear it when the car is idling or when I am pressing the gas pedal to accelerate. I do not hear it when driving on the highway, only local driving or idling. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow to have it diagnosed but I do not want to get ripped off. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be??

Couple things come to mind:

Possibly the oil, spark plugs, or transmission fluid needs to be changed. Maybe more possibilities, I'm sure more with chime in. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it worth me being charged a $115 dollar diagnostic fee by the dealership tomorrow? No panel lights are on at all to specify any serious damage.

No problem! Just hoping I can help!
How many miles are on the car? Have you had any of the work done that I mentioned?

About 60,000 miles. It shifts fine. I have regualr oil changes all though I am due for one now & no new spark plugs or trans fluid change.

Hmm...it wouldn't be the oil then, I've heard a car with very old oil in it sounded horrible!

I know a lot of members here usually do a transmission change about 70K and I know the 2008+ need spark plugs changed every 100K or so, but that's all I can think of. Unless it's your lifters?

Sorry, wish I could help more, unless someone can bring in some input, my knowledge is pretty limited.
