There is a 1970 Superbird for sale. It's a one owner with build sheet, window sticker, payment book etc. Even a traffic ticket received in Maryland years ago for driving a car without a front bumper. The judge decided the extended nose was plenty of bumper after looking at the owners manual, which is also with the car. Garaged since 1974. Starter has been replaced, original one comes with the car. Rear-end gears were replaced by dealership in 1970 due to the car being delivered without any grease in the differential. Battery and tires replaced, original spare is in the trunk. Paint (orange) and top are original. A stripe was added to the front in the early 70's to match a picture of a Superbird in Playboy that the owner thought was cool. (Sept 1969? still trying to find out) That is the only modification on the car. Has white interior with bucket seats. Has the original motor and transmission. 440 4bbl Auto w/ console shifter. Asking $185,000. Will consider offers. Please email questions to email@example.com.
It is has 55,722 miles. It has some scuffs and scratches from it's days on the road and in parking lots. It has been garaged since 1974 and driven occasionally. The owner had a black accent stripe painted back in the early 70's to match a Superbird he saw in Playboy. He thought it looked good at the time. Things that have been changed: Hood insulation is new from YearOne. The distributor cap. (wires are original) valve covers were painted, master cylinder replaced, starter replaced, (still has original) battery, tires (spare is original) The rear end gears were replaced right after it was bought due to having no grease in the differential from the factory. The chrome trim on the pillar posts was replaced after the originals were stolen.
The car has original paint, top, and complete original interior. There is one small tear in the bottom of the driver's seat, shown in the photos. Both jacks are still in the trunk, as well as both jack instruction labels. I have not been under the car, but will do so next time I visit the car. It is well documented. Since it was first registered in Mayland, has the recall letter that offered to buy the car back since it was illegal to drive in the state of Maryland. Marland had a law that required a front bumper. The owner still has a traffic ticket he got while driving it in MD for having a front bumper.
There is a lot of info available about this car since it is still owned by the guy that bought it new.
