Any Hemi Multi-Displacement problems??

Has anyone experienced problems relating to engine performance when the engine changes from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders?

You need to be more specific...what kind of problem?....you should not be able to tell when the change occurs...

unless you modify the exhaust system... such as a 125 borla system, you can hear it switch between 4 and 8 cylinders.

Re: Any Hemi Multi-Displacement problems??

On my way back from Portland sunday night, I noticed an irritating surge in mine. While running at 74-76 w/ or w/o cruise on, I would feel about a 30-50 rpm surge when I encountered an incline in the road. Got to be quite annoying. This was the first time I had encountered this and was attributing it to the MDS. Running 87 and trying to keep it steady. Got almost 23 going into Portland and only 20 coming back.

Re: Any Hemi Multi-Displacement problems??

Well for starters, the car requires 89 octane minimum, that could be part of your problem right there. 87 octane is actually less "steady" (stable) than 89, which burns slower, and more steadily.

Re: Any Hemi Multi-Displacement problems??

Is there no way to tell when you go to only 4 or back to 8? I have not had the chance to drive on the hwy much yet but am very curious if there is any signs. I am kinda paranoid that it isn't working until I have proof (yes I know one must have faith but I have a motto in life, "trust but verify".)
