skid plate under car

not sure where to post this, figured this area is the best. My question is, the big plastic skid plate under the front of the car, if removed, is there any real "danger" to the underside of the car? would I be alright to drive it in the winter? I would in the future if funds allow, buy a grip bumper, but I need the car for winter driving also. so is there any danger or no?

shouldnt be any damage caused. its mainly to keep road grime off the bottom of the motor and from getting up into the engine bay.
