Question Oil change... is it 5 or 6 quarts???

So I went and got my oil changed at a new place since my mechanic who usually changed my oil went out of buisness. I bought my own oil since they were going to charge me like $75.00 plus tax to use synthetic oil. I got 5 quarts and my filter for about $32 and he changed my oil for $10. after I pick up my car he says that it needs 6 quarts not 5. This whole time I thought that it took only 5 quarts!! Is this true or is this guy just full of it?? FYI I tried to look it up here under search to see if anyone has asked this question before, couldnt come up with anything.

The 5.7's are 7.5 quarts for an oil change.

Red! I want red, there's no substitute for red. Red! Paint it red, green ain't mean compared to red.
I am in with my HEMI!

it's 6 for the 3.5...so I'm guessing it's more for the 5.7

More like 7 quarts or 6.6 liters for the 5.7

My guess would be to look in the owners Manual. But what beats that 99.9% of the time is the Dipstick.

Dodge has the owners manual online.

2.7L 5W-20 6qts or 5.7 liters
3.5L 10W-30 6qts
5.7L 5W-20 7qts or 6.6 liters

I just changed mine on Saturday. Officially, it takes 7 quarts. But I usually put about 6.5 quarts in it because there's always some oil left inside the motor.

2007 R/T | Diablo 93CAI | AFE Stage II CAI | Flowmaster Super 44 Catback | SLP Udrive Pulley | BT Catch Can
Blacked out 20x9 SRT wheels | Toaster Mod | Clock Tower Mod
Best pre pulley 1/4: 13.64 @ 101.33 mph

If you don't like what I'm saying, my response can be re-calibrated. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Re-read my post and at the same time turn the key to the ACC position. My response has now been re-calibrated.

I paid 55 for my full synthetic oil change. I figured I was gonna pay at least 40 alone for the oil to do it myself so why not pay the extra to have someone else do it.

Yeah, 7 quarts. Holy hell!!!

Because when I do it myself, I know it was done right!

7 quarts and a new oil filter everytime.

You call it "Road Rage". I call it "Aggressively maneuvering around idiots who don't know how to drive".

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a HEMI and that's kind of the same thing.
