I need some help trying to figure out what to do.Just got kooks LT headers installed on my srt8 charger, went catless and paired with a corsa sport catback system.Car is custom tuned and has a cai as well..The car is so raspy at low rpms and idle, not mean and aggressive like a srt8 should be.I tried an h pipe and that didnt help much.At high rpms WOT it sounds amazing and everyone watches but what can i do with my raspy issue.
I was thinking about the magnaflow muff but to many people were saying them and flowmasters were to much drone in the cab. And as for the x pipe Ive been reading the x gives more rasp and a h gives more growl..But since I installed the H there wasent much more growl to it.
Today the beast has an appt to get HF cats put on and to get my h pipe taken off. Do you think changing the corsa sport exhuast to something like that magnalfow would be better.
I second this! Got magnaflow mufflers with no resonators and it sounds awesome inside and out, get complements from people on both all the time. There is SOME drone, this is unavoidable once you remove the stock exhaust, but it's mostly on low rpm uphills and the like on the highway, it settles down once on mostly flat ground. I hate drone and find my set up more than livable, the flowmasters will be more aggressive but also more drone. Magnaflows in my own opinion are the best middle ground between aggressive sound and being able to go on the highway without going crazy.
Thanks for Replying quickly, seems like mag is the way to go.go. I've read that drone was pretty bad on those but your description doesn't make it sound to unbearable ...has anyone else used the dyno max muffler like MEAN R/T was talking about.I looked them up and they have a butterfly valve in there muffler, any issues with that breaking like cutouts do..
You're going to need to put cats back on if you want to tone the raspiness down. Try a high flow version. Also, having the resonators cut out will bump up the exhaust tone considerably. I did that on my '12 SRT and didn't have any issues with drone. I'm loving the '15 stock exhaust so far, so I'm not going to mess with it, yet....
I just got HF cats back on and that helped a lil bit. I think il try ur idea and take those resonators off next. I'm scheduled for tomorrow at the muff shop. I think the biggest problem is I don't like the exotic tone corsa makes. Not aggressive enough
After spending the 1200 to 1400 whatever it was on a corsa cat back I dont think id buy another cat back system. Can you get just the mufflers from slp and borla
Yes, mufflers can be purchased individually. Dodge did a great job designing the exhaust of their SRT cars. This isn't the 90's where Mustangs & Camaros came corked with kinked up 2" exhaust. The SRT exhausts have plenty of diameter, are free flowing with good bends, and tuned for sound/drone. Cat backs will give a slight increase in performance but comes at a very high cost.
