Anybody got some tips to hard wire a Passport X50 radar detector? Specifically what wire do I tap into which is hot when I turn on the ignition?

Cool... but, I was hoping to tap under the dash based on my location preference.

What I think I read however is Pink or Pink w/Green stripe is ACC and Black w/Green stripe is negative. Do ya think it's consistant under the dash as well?

Right side "A" pillar, baby! There's no need to go spelunking in your dash...

How do I get the pillar cover off? Do the top console wires run up it? If so it sounds like the Pink or Pink/green will be there! That would be way cool!

Does anyone know if the wires are the same (pink for accessory and Green/White for the negative) even if the rearview mirror is the traditional one and not the blue-tooth automatically dimming mirror?

Done!

Okay so after a little self debate I decided to wire from the top console and stick my detector to the glass under the rear view. I had a hard wire kit from escort and I like the remote mute feature since I don't like to reach that far forward. I decided to use the hard wire kit and have the remote mute route out the back of the console. I cut down the wires and soldered and shrink wraped everything I cut. The whole job took about 1 hour and that included testing everything 6 times before and after I cut/soldered/wrapped!

I'm pretty happy with how it came out, everything is perfect length and real tight. I wish the remote mute was a little smaller but I worked with what I had.

Here is a pic, lets here what you think.... yes I know the dector is not level, I fixed it after I looked at the picture!!

I hooked mine to my UConnect rear view mirror.

I thought about buying the invisicord, but I like the mute button on the cig. lighter power cord. Is there any solution to this with invisicord?

That was my problem as well. I didn't see any other way around this other than to get a hard wire kit which comes with the mute button and wire it into the overhead console.

If your worried about doing the wireing over head I wouldn't it was wicked easy! The directions/pictures in the previous link I sent were awsome! The only issue you have is deciding if you want the mute button looking like the one I have. To be honest at first I wasn't sure I was going to like it but now I really do. Being able to reach up without a strain is great and the light show when the alarm goes off is closer to you so you can have the tunes cranked and not miss when the alarm goes off.

In my 2008 the pink wire with green stipe does not appear to be an accessory wire (mine does not have any power in the off or accessory position) The red wire with the green stripe has constant power.

I used the red wire with green stripe for now, but I am hoping that someone might have an answer as to how to get the pink wire with green stripe to have power. Is there a fuse that is not inserted in cars that do not have blue tooth or auto dimming mirror?
