I am not a current Charger owner, but I have soft spot for Mopars. My favorite past one was a 1973 Duster 340. I am a muscle car guy and love to drive a manual. I have that covered with a Camaro SS 1LE. I also enjoy Test and Tune drag racing. The Camaro is my toy right now for that hobby.
All of my kids are grown and moved out so I am thinking of adding a sedan to my garage. I have a beater Jetta that was used to send two of my daughters to school. But I long for a cruiser. My wife has a Rav4 so we have the AWD station wagon thing covered. It's really her turn for a new car, but she loves the Rav, so I figure a sedan with an auto is a car we both can enjoy.
I love driving a fun car. At first I was thinking a Chevy SS. But it's pricey and not very good looking and I understand it drives much like my Camaro. That's a good thing but I already have one, so I decided to look at something different. Then I was thinking FWD between the Mazda6 (still a great value), Accord V6, and the Toyota Avalon. Out of those three I think the V6es are more fun and the Avalon might be the best of the three. It's very light, roomy, and quick with the V6. Also the suspension has been firmed up and I have read it's fun to drive.
But lately, the more I read, the 2015 Charger is looking more attractive. I did rent a 2014 SXT on a vacation and we both liked it. So started reading about the 2015 updates and I understand it is a big improvement over the older Chargers.
If I do go Charger, I think it's between a R/T Road and Track and maybe a Scat Pack. I am not sure if any Scat Packs have been delivered yet, so I suppose there are no opinions on that as a cruiser sedan. I love the idea of a 392 under the hood and 12 second ETs. But I wonder if it might be too extreme like my Camaro. Maybe not really the right car for a long drive. So the R/T R&T might be the best compromise. Optioned the way I want it, it would be about $5K cheaper than the Scat Pack. And I'm sure there is more room to bargain on the R/T as Scat Packs may remain scarce. After reading about both, they may have the same suspension.
So for now I will look at the R/T threads. Looking forward to seeing Scat Packs at Atco. There was a Challenger Hellcat there las week running 10.8s with only drag radials. Awesome. My Camaro has about the same power, but turbos and especially turbos with manuals are very hard to get good times with. I only got to see Hellcat taillights.
