Our 2016 Charger R/T is a lemon...

Well for starters after about 1 week of ownership (loved the car up to this point) 1 problem occurred then the rest followed directly behind!

List of issues!
• Sunroof opens and closes on its own and sometimes won't even open.
• The touch screen will go blank and cancels everything music, navi, phone calls. Which takes about 5 minutes before it finally turns it self back on and then shuts off again!
• Headlights (Our car has the Xenon's) so in Auto mode the headlights turn on in bright daylight. Butt here's the main issue they won't work in auto mode at night! They flicker the driver's headlight actually stopped working for about 2 days them MAGICALLY started to work again!
•Interior lighting. Are rapidly flashing if you put the vehicle in park you can see the headlights flickering and the interior lights.
• LED fog lights just don't work at all they were not working from day one! Light comes on but no fog lights are activated dealer said the LED did not need to be replaced!
• Speedometer and Tachometer are just as worst as the Navigation also When the navigation turns off so do so does the entire dashboard.
• 3rd LED brake light doesn't work!

Now all the service warning messages I have gotten.
•Service Transmission (Life Could be lost because of this issue)
•Washer Fluid Low
•(ABS) and (I Brake)
• Fuel Low (Car has a full tank)
•Battery Warning Light
• Tire Pressure Monitoring Light
• Traction Control Off
•Service Traction Control
• And Airbag Light

Now about the transmission issue!
• I'm driving on the highway doing 80 -85 MPH and a car moving in front of me is driving at least 70 MPH so I slow down (when BS starts) Ok so first off the Warning: Service Transmission flys up onto the dashboard and ( to remind you there are cars behind me) so I kinda ignore it because the slower moving car switches lanes. So I give the car a little gas and BAM! This loud screeching noise comes and I start to notice that the car doesn't have any throttle response at all so I'm lucky enough to throw on the hazards and get to the side of the road. And when I come to a full stop every thing on the car shuts off hazards and all car won't even start anymore starter tries but it can't. And so my Christmas Eve. was spent with me, waiting for roadside assistance. Which took a good hour! So needless to say wish we didn't trade our 2010 for this! And when ever we have the opportunity to get rid of this garbage it's gone and I'm not going back to the Dodge! Dealership was no help through all of this. Sadly this is a beautiful car but has lots and I mean lost off issue that need to be figured out. So sorry my fellow Charger members this is my last Charger. And I hope you have good luck with yours! And a Happy New Year from my family to your! :)

Update: We have taken the car into the dealership for all of these issues but they are simply clearing and Or resetting things or whatever they do behind closed doors!

Sure sounds like a lemon! I feel your pain, but even my lemon Jeep wasn't that bad. Chrysler may offer to buy it back from you with so many problems, but definitely deal directly through Dodge corporate, dealerships are absolutely, positively useless. At the very least, I bet they'd offer to do an even trade for another FCA car if you still don't want another charger. I'd give that a try if I was you.

Good luck!

If we do allow us to do a trade we we're thinking about the following vehicle!
17' Grand Cherokee Overland or Summit
16' Kia Optima SXL
15' BMW 335i
16' Lexus IS 350
16' Audi S3 or A4 or A3
16' Chevy Tahoe Premier
16' Chevy Silverado Premier

But sadly our upgrade that we were hoping would last a long time has absolutely failed us!

The car isn't a week old! It's about 2 and a half months old I just posted the new car on the forum late! And the dealership is "Claiming" to fix the issues but they are just resetting things and saying that they are ok! And is telling me to come pick up a car that is going to do the same thing over and over again! So that's why I said that they were no help at all!

So you were having all these problems and then you took it out on the highway running at 80-85 mph? Thats just plain stupid.
You never said you took it in for the issues ?

Calling it garbage, is kinda of harsh considering from what you said, you never geve the dealer a chance to look at it. could have been as simpe as a loose battery terminal

I admit it running the car that fast was stupid! But I had some where to be because it was Christmas Eve.

Took it in for every thing dealership was just resetting things or clearing them or whatever they do and telling me to come pick up the car. When they knew damn well that it wasn't fixed!

@DodgeCares on this forum can probably help you out.

Good Luck with it! It does sound like some kind of ground fault or electrical issue. Hopefully that can be tracked down and then the problems go away.

Tyler,

Definitely sounds like something wrong in the electrical or electronics... I had the same thing happen with a brand new Journey about 5 years ago... Turned out the harness to the fuse box wasn't plugged in properly...

Of course when I took it to the dealer, they did the same thing... Reset all the errors... But they kept coming back until they checked the connections to the fuse block... After that, no more problems...

Naturally they (mechanics) would reset the errors and then try to get them to happen again, but sounds like they didn't come back. At least not for them.

Are YOU still having the same errors popping up?

I agree, that sounds like a bad ground(s) or some type of electrical system problem. Are you still under warranty? I'm assuming with it being a '16 you are. I would definitely continue to work with the dealer on getting that fixed. As someone mentioned before if the same problem cannot be fixed within a certain number of tries, it may qualify for a buyback. I hate to hear you've had these problems as my 2012 R/Thas been a joy to own(and drive!). I've had a couple of lemons before from another automaker so I feel your pain. Good luck and hopefully this will have a good ending.

When it comes to electrical gremlins like that, best to start at the battery, then the battery connections, then the fuse blocks/PDCs

No FCA made it right. I am very pleased with the dealer and FCA.. the third party mitigation company was another story. The case manager was great but everyone else sucked. Overall it was a good experience, I can't say enough about the dealer. They are fantastic.
