If I were to install say an aftermarket air/train horn or LED lights or etc where would I be able to run the wire to the switch inside the cabin? I'm assuming there is already a spot where wires run through the firewall?
I think I want to install some LED fog lights but need some guidance on wiring.
Take a look under your car in the general vicinity of the fog light holes. In order to save money, modern car manufacturers make one wiring harness that covers every possible option on a car, and they just tie off any wiring legs that are not used on a particular car. It costs them a lot less to order 100,000 wiring harnesses than to order 10,000 harnesses 10 times, plus if they get an unexpected run of requests for certain options they don't find themselves stuck ordering one harness for those options while they have a bunch of unused harnesses. This means the factory fog light wiring should be under there somewhere. You just have to find the correct harness, install the fogs, then have the dealer turn the option on. Usually this will run you an hour's shop time. If one dealer won't, check others. The Charger actually has a pretty good control setup for their foglights, which means that when you turn them on they stay on until you turn them off, unlike the GM cars I'm used to.
Yes, the wiring should be on your car, not guaranteed to be. It may take some looking because it may be tied back on another wiring harness. On the switch, look closely at the headlight switch. It may be the same. On mine, the headlight switch is also a pull/push switch that turns the fogs on. You may already have the switch installed, not guaranteed though.
Based on my research, a different switch is required most of the time. The switch is easy to change tho....It is a simple plug and play and is a very easy find online.
