Bad News, SEMA is protesting. This is interesting in that the Automakers just got shot down by the Copyright folks with their request for PCM copyright protection. This is just another way for the automakers to prevent the PCM from being altered.
I'm all for efficiency and lowering emissions, but this is NOT the way to do it. Pretty sure there are far larger sources of pollution than a few race cars...and more than enough priuses and people who could give a shit about driving to offset it anyway..
I just hope that SEMA succeeds in getting this para out of the new regulation. If they fail there will be a lot of aftermarket shops going out of business.
It does not help that they have the support of the current President with his new CAFE standards and the backing of the Automobile manufacturers.
EPA needs to be scaled back to a dozen employees. All rule making authority should be withdrawn. Bureaucracies get out of control, they become tyrannies. Why shouldn't they? No consequences to any personnel.
If this goes through, any product that you see that states "for off road use only" would be taken off the shelf. You would not have a choice any more to put in on. I would be illegal to sell the item.
Stupid federal government again making a dumb decision. Why don't they go after REAL polluters on the planet? You know, planes and container ships. I really hate our government.
More reason to buy an older/pre-2020 car now while you have a chance. It's not likely they will outlaw the use of tens of millions of older / pre-owned vehicles in my lifetime.
