147 MPH on Las Vegas Blvd South with a Daytona Top Banana.
It was a nice day for a ride to the Outlet mall about 40 miles south of Vegas.
This is a remnant of the old highway to Vegas before I-15 was built.
The best run is from the Henderson I-15 off ramp when you are leaving the Vegas valley toward LA. There is about 20 to 25 miles of mostly long straights with just a few turns on the way to Jean and the casinos. The best of which is an underpass with an S-turn posted 45 mph.
The Daytona stuck like glue at 85 and 90 mph thru the S-turn.
I never did pass 5000 rpm at 147 mph and I believe I read 4000 rpm around 135 to 140 mph. Not 100% sure on these readings as the ride was a little bumpy on this ancient hwy built over loose desert alluvium which tends to settle in places. I didn't want to take my eyes off the road because of this.
I only encountered a few vehicles so was able to average over 120 mph with a memorable two truck pass on a long sweeping right turn at 115 mph.
I did keep an eye on the EVIC with engine temps ranging from 220 to 260 degrees. The analog temperature guage needle stayed firmly planted just below half way the whole time.
I estimate air temp at about 78 degrees, although EVIC said 88 degrees.
Need to have the dealership to re-calibrate this if possible.
I was truly amazed at the high speed cornering of the fully loaded stock Top Banana , Except for a K&N filter.
Oh yeah, I forgot to say that there are 3 coats of Zaino wax on the TB.
That should make the Daytona slide thru the air much easier
