I read on this site that its an easy buy from ebay for 200. Do i need to get its flashed since i already had a camera in place? It seemed like the cars that never had a back up camera needed a flash.
If i do need a flash should i reverse my tune? Iam out of warranty so i dont care if the dealership sees my tune, will it interfer with the flash?
The camera has been going in and out, somedays it works sometimes not. I checked the wiring, no obvious problems? It would seem something is loose, you think? Backup camera mounted on a trunk lid? kind of a delicate piece of electronics to be banged around when closing your trunk!
This happens to me periodically. The wiring harness comes loose from time to time. It's a known issue and is very common. Usually it fixes itself. I would get into the wiring and see if you can secure it better before paying for a new camera and install.
From my research the issue is usually with the wiring, not the camera itself.
My backup camera started acting up a few weeks ago. When activated the screen would flash or blink. Sometimes it seems to work but the image would be mirror! Makes it really hard to back into a parking spot when everything on the screen is a mirror image! :surprise::surprise: Yesterday the screen started going black on occassion. Its intermittent - usually on days when its raining or foggy. I just removed the trunk lid liner expecting to find mosture and or a loose connection. Nope - it looks perfect. I went ahead and removed the camera from the housing - mine is part number 56054058AF.
Sounds like I just need to replace the camera. Cheapest I've found so far is $162. Everyone else with this problem just replacing the camera?
2012 Dodge Journey bought used (yes I know Charger forum but maybe my issue helps). I have had my camera replaced twice, the entire radio console and now again in the shop. This time, they are saying it is the wiring and of course, my extended warranty is out! Looking at other info, the wiring harness into hatch thru opening in upper RH side of hatch, which this area has damaged a bunch of wires.
