Hello
My name is Tiffany. I am 26 Year old. I want to start my own club. I am on here to learn how to start a car club, I got some ideas that I need some help on what to pick, and to see if it is any more people from Atlanta who is on here, also to see who want to join. I have started on paper things like handbook, rules, fee, etc. Also if any body have any ideas let me know.
Here are two of my questions for right now
1. should I make it a all women club? (There are not to many all women club.)(I think it is not a all women club in Atlanta.)
2. Should I start the membership at $100 a month to help us get on our feet then after a year go down to $75 a month? (To have some where to meet at, go on trips, have events and go to events.)
The other questions will come after I get my answers from these questions and I see what I am going to do.
Because we is going to need the money to do the things we need to do. But if you feel that I should start out free then move to a price membership I can think about it and put it to my notes.
Not saying it is. But it sounds like a scam. To start a club, you have to know enough people with the same interests to start one. No one will pay you based on your word, especially if you're the only member. Gladiator is right. You have to start with free events. You have to hussle to put your club out there. Be at car shows every weekend, depending on where you live. Hence why you need to know people, so they can help. You'll probably need to put some of your own money at first to get it started. Cards, flyers, stickers, etc, etc. And just so you know it may take years before you have a loyal crew because if they get bored from the get-go. They'll be moving on, quick. With it being an all girl club, even more hussle. Because 8 in 10 Mopar owners is a man. And only one in those 2 left is a true Mopar chick. The other ones are chick owners that their daddy or significant other bought it. My wife drives my car but the only thing she knows how to do is fill it up. She couldn't tell you any mods that I have. Also not every car owner is interested in being in a club. I had a guy in Challenger flat out not take my club card because he wasn't interested, he literally refused the card. Didn't take it or even look at it. Just said "not interested", period. With that being said, good luck, hope we were able to give you some insight. Starting a club is not easy.
Sorry, did you want to start a business or a car club? $100 a month?! WTF is this my all inclusive cable bill?!?! I started a club when I was in college. At first it was going to be an SRT club, didn't work. Then a charger club, didn't work. Then a muscle car only club, didn't work. Then it was a general car enthusiast club, still barely worked. Made some friends I'll stay in touch with forever, but even 4 years later we weren't even close to charging a fee for membership simply because we had no need or interest. Pretty pompous in general if you ask me, and to my experience frowned upon. We held quite a few med-large scale shows and raised a pretty penny for our local little-league group who helped sponsor the events.
I've been a part of PLENTY of fantastic groups/clubs that I've never paid a dime to that all do GREAT things (fundraisers, shows, track days, etc.) It's more about getting together and gaining interest at first. Get a weekly or monthly meet going and good luck with that alone, it's not as easy as it seems. Once you gain some interest see if you can find someone willing to give up a lot for a day for a show. Get some local vendors involved, local places love participating in that stuff. Hand out some flyers. Get a group page and event listing on social media. Go from there!
Also I am not saying this to come off as an absolute jerk but as a small business owner I am telling you the truth. If you write the way you post with such bad grammar no one will take you seriously much less give money to a club you are running. If your promotional materials are written this way they will be filed in the trash can.
Let me say this I am not a SCAM. Yes I have bad grammar so what I have had it all my life and I am not the only one in this world who do. I am not on here looking for a teacher if you know what I am talking about why would you say any thing about my grammar so yes to me you is coming off like a jerk. You should not do that to people who don't know. Why I am doing a paid membership club because I see events that I know the club is going to want to do but it will cost money and trips. I have started on the flyers and other things too. And it is some women in this world who know about cars it is not like back in the day where that is all women did was drive the car. You got some women who can tell you about a car better then a man. And right now I think it is a bad idea to come on here and ask for ideas.
Asking for ideas here in itself is not a bad idea. What you're trying to accomplish is. Not liking what you hear is not our fault. And just because everyone has bad grammar, I don't think you should too. That's just a cop out to not having to think about writing well. We're not saying you won't need money for things but starting a club is not a business. It's hobby, a hobby that 95% of people are not willing to pay for. I'm in one of the largest clubs in the DFW area and even then we'll have a handful at car shows. Some have even left to go to other clubs. I myself am loyal. I've been approached by 2 other clubs, national car clubs but I stay with my club. And only a handful will buy club merchandise, much even less pay for membership. Also I didn't say you ARE a scam, that it sounds like one. Either way good luck with your venture. You'll learn it's not easy by far. You have to put in work for years. And it's nice to know that you know more about your car than some dudes do. How much do you know about making sandwiches?
I know you was going to say that about cooking. Because you is one of them men. Yes i know how to cook. I got my cooking from my mom and me knowing about cars from my dad and brothers. I was not trying to start a club tomorrow if you go back and read i said in the next two to three years. And get off the grammar thing because i am not on here for that. And if you want to go there about cooking some men don't know how to cook a hotdog what about you.
Good luck with the car club. More advice, don't make it women only it would make the membership smaller. You can only benefit from having a larger car club.
