Awesome info man, thanks for sharing this. I figured they'd release a non Hellcat SRT of the Charger but I wasn't sure, definitely keeping my eye on that or the R/T Road & Track.

Only wheels I personally don't dig are the AWD, the rest are pretty nice, the R/T+/SXT Rallye wheels almost remind me of a bigger version of the Dart's. I like them.

Thanks for posting.

Subbing in for more SRT info.

I can't go back to an R/T. :rocker:

Sorry to ask Gladiator I'm new and made up in my mind that i'm going to get the 15 charger R/T. You said that the dealers can order them now? I talked to my local dealership and they said I can order maybe by next week. I'm not doubting you or questioning your knowledge of this point, just making sure I got the right information

Bummer no RT with AWD

I hope Dodge rethinks that later on.

ResumeSpeed, is there a 20 inch wheel as an option for the AWD or only the one 19 inch wheel for the AWD.

Is there any chance there will be an AWD with a eight cylinder for model year 2015? Any idea why Dodge scrapped the R/T AWD? My wife has owned two R/T AWD Chargers and was looking forward to ordering a 2015 AWD R/T.

Any chance a Hellcat AWD Charger will be offered?

Thanks!

"In the past, Dodge has combined the Hemi engine with all wheel drive (AWD) for better launches and improved rain and snow handling in the Charger R/T AWD. Indeed, for 2014, even police cars were made available with the combination of Hemi and AWD. For 2015, however, AWD is being restricted to V6 cars.

According to Jim Choate, Chrysler’s Ralph Gilles wrote on Twitter that the issue was a “very low take rate” — few customers buying the combination.

Reliable sources suggested that the police might be able to get a Hemi AWD combination."

Not so weird. Michigan contains only 3.1% of the Population of the United states. Even if 40% of Charger owners bought an AWD Hemi in any given model year, it's still a very small part of the total Chargers sold nationwide in that year.

Models offered depends on total models sold. If not enough folks buy a specific model, then it doesn't make sense to make them.

It makes sense to me that folks who want V8 power generally don't couple it with AWD in a climate that requires AWD. Hence the reason that a 300 HP V6 AWD makes more sense as a model to offer to the general public for those climates.

Remember that the current PentaStar V6 has only 50 hp less than the '06-'10 5.7L Hemi AWD did. It also has nearly the same torque and an 8 speed tranny that makes up a lot of the difference.

No wonder Dodge decided that the Hemi version wasn't worth producing.

Any idea how many Hemi and 6 cylinder AWD's were produced over the years?

Secondly, what's the difference on the production line to drop a Hemi motor in an AWD versus a 6 cylinder?

Tesla just announced an AWD version of their Model S and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds!

srt

Anyone any idea when the SRT will be available.
Need to change the 07 as it has 215K on it and I am getting a bit nervous about the engine.
Had it since new and still runs great. Always used Mobil 1 and done services but 215K is still a lot of miles for this engine.

SRT is supposed to be first quarter 2015. If it follows the pattern of the Challenger there will be items unavailable for several months so not options may be available. Hopefully the Challenger's problems being fixed means the charger will have none.

#29 ·
All challenger items below.

Hellcat: No sunroof until 4/15
No Upgraded leather until 12/14 at least

Scat Pack: Scat Pack appearance group is currently missing floor mats, embroidered logo seats, bee logo splash screen and something else I know I am forgetting.
No Scat pack shaker until Q1 2015

Bottom line is dodge screwed up a few minor things. They sold cars without all of the stuff that should be available actually being available. The Charger may see equivalent minor problems at first launch.

Thanks for the info...`

I got permission from the Mrs. to order a Hellcat and was waiting for more information on the Charger to drop before making my choice. I think I will go with the Challenger because I want the manual... Great information

Only get the manual if you really enjoy rowing gears. It's s slower car than the auto.
