Whats the most you got in a single tank of gas?

I drove 200 miles straight and still had more than half a tank.

I'll be driving from VA to NY this summer.

I guess thats when ill no what i can really get.

Just wondering what other Charger drivers got.

Also what size engine, Mines a 5.7 Liter.

I have driven from Northern VA to Jacksonville, FL and averaged 27mpg. That would give you a range of over 500 miles, but you don't want to run your tank dry. I don't tend to use more than 17g of the 19g available so about 460 miles per tank. Daily driving gets me 300 miles per tank...damn lead foot!

I am not sure. Maybe 250 miles. I haven't taken any long road trips or tried to see how far I can go on a single tank. Most of my driving is around town and I get in the 14-15 MPG range.

I try to get in a 4,000 + mile trip every year. So I far I've only had the Charger out once but looking foward to a 2nd trip in it. I always keep topping off the gas tank about every 100-200 miles. You have to buy more at some point anyway. I'm old, in my 30s so I usually need to take a leak by then anyway.

Only with the kind of driving you do. :grin2:

Even the 2015 R/T won't do any better under those conditions.

If you want better MPG for those conditions, buy a 3.6L V6. ;)

I've owned my 2008 Charger RT R&T for 7 years now since I purchased it brand new. I don't intent on getting rid of it anytime soon. I'm trying to convince my wife to get a charger in the coming fall when the lease expires on her 2012 Toyota Prius. She's used to the 50 mpg fuel economy and thinks that all the newer Chargers burn a lot of gas just like mine does. I don't know what the 6 cylinder Charger gas mileage is, but I doubt that it's a very big difference from my 2008 RT R&T 5.7 liter.

I agree. I LOVE the power of the Hemi V8. I would feel cheated buying a V6 Charger. I already feel cheated whenever I drive my wife's Prius. It's economical, but it isn't as comfortable as my Charger and it has no power. It's a no frills point A to point B car. I can't wait to get rid of it. I'm going to try to talk her into buying the economical 6 cylinder Charger with the Lifetime Warranty. I'm sick of leasing Toyotas just because of the excellent gas mileage. There's got to be a better solution than only Toyota Prius and Camry for decent gas mileage. I'm hoping the newer 2015 6 cylinder Charger is the solution to excellent gas mileage.

Miles per tank is irrelevant since no one runs a full tank to dry.

Mile per tank is silly...especially since these cars don't all have the same size tank.

Start talking about MPG since it is independent of tank volume and more accurately reflects the fuel economy you are getting.

Your point is absolutely valid, but the OCD in me...

The most I ever got out of my charger was when I picked it up from the dealership. I drove 4 1/2 hours to get my beautiful 12 Charger RT and drove her home (while my wife drove our other vehicle). When I left the dealership Hemi (what I named my charger) had a full tank of gas and when I got home 4 1/2 hours later of straight highway driving and with cruise control I only used up half a tank. I don't know how it was possible but I was very happy with the end result...than the next day when I started my city driving I saw my gas gauge drop after my somewhat fun stop and go's at the stop lights lol. Anymore I have to ride around the city with cruise control on or I find myself constantly pushing the accelerator (I blame the Mercedes suspension lol) =)

Fuelly.com is an awesome site to track fuel economy.

the pedal one pushes with the right foot is the money pedal. Push it hard and it pours money out of your wallet.

Chargers with Hemi's are awesome performers. It's not hard to beat label, it's also really really easy to get bad gas mileage.

Back to BB, drive the charger like your wife's car drives and you'll substantially improve the gas mileage. Don't like to drive that way, don't complain about the gas mileage ;)

BillyBobby- If you can talk her out of the Prius, maybe take a look at the late-model Dart or 200. I haven't driven either, but they're pretty nice looking cars these days, with a good interior. :)

recently picked up my r/t from a dealer 120 miles away and ended up averging about 22 MPG on that trip with conservative driving and an occasional heavy foot.

This is what worries me about getting a Charger....the mpg. I never drive my Jetta SE conservatively and always average 25mpg or better in the city and way higher on the freeway. If I drove a Charger the same way, I'm fairly certain I'd be lucky to see 17mpg.....which would get depressing with premium fuel.

I usually average 22-23 mpg, best I have seen was on a straight long trip following my father in law who drove 55 mph the whole way home for 250 miles. I averaged 29.6 mpg on that trip. If I cruise at 55-60 I get around 27.5, 70-75mph I will see it stick around 26 and if I am at 78 mph I will get around 22mpg.
