Well I finally got my new Louvers installed and sealed. I am LOVING the way they look! Here are some before and after pics of them. This was a big buy for me and I was a little worried when installing them. I say the hardest part was setting it up just perfect so the trunk didn't rub against the bottom of the Louvers when it opened. Also they are made out of a very strong aluminum metal and not some cheap plastic which made me even happier! Personally I love them but I would also like to know what others think of them!
Visibility is fine. As for dust/snow, the glass doesn't get all that dirty. Most of the snow, dust, etc lands on the louvers and either stays there or blows off. Very little of it finds it's way to the glass. I take mine off a time or two a year and clean the window real good. As noted by the OP, they're easy to remove, so if I drove more, or it was exposed to more dirt it could easily be done more often.
Doesn't look too bad at all, I just personally never felt that louvers fit well in the Chargers (or Camaros). They look pretty bad ass on Mustangs and Trans Ams though.
For everyone asking here is a pic looking out the back of the car with the louvers on. The scenery behind the car is tree's and a small garden but you can see fairly well out of it. I wasn't too concerned though cause my car came with the backup camera and all of the sensors to warn me if something is near me or in my path.
These shots are from my '12 that I had them on 1st. On it I put a few extra pads near the center of the window (there are 4 that can be seen) because I was worried. I don't have them on my '14 because it turns out they weren't necessary. The view from inside is the same though, minus those 4 pads. Here's a shot straight out the back, and one in through the rear view mirror.
Dang! I like those. I'm a little disappointed that they don't hinge up for cleaning like the ones I used to have on a car years ago. But they do look nice. I admit, I am considering them still.
Yes those are the plastic ones. They didn't start making louvers for the '11+ until this year. I made those for my '12 about 3 year ago from the plastic louvers designed for the '06-'10. I swapped them to my '14 when I upgraded. Anyone looking to install louvers on an '11-'14 without customizing a set of plastic ones like I did will have to go with the metal set. Nobody makes plastic louvers for the '11+ yet. So far there's only one marketed option for them, which is the kind the OP has.
Edit:
Added photos from outside of my '12, and '14
Bumping the old thread. I've been browsing eBay for what I may like to do next, and I think the louvers keep growing on me.
What's everyone's opinion of these? I do take everyone's opinion into account because even though it's my car, I often times overthink things or don't think enough and dwell on pointless stuff when it comes to the Charger.
Do they still give the car a nice clean look, or do they start to make it look over the top, or a little tacky. I'm plain Jane with pretty much everything and don't like flash. I'm not fan of the big diffusers or huge splitters or wickerbills. (They all look awesome, just not for my car).
Anyway, I've noticed in some of the other threads the issue with the trunk clearing them. I was checking that out myself this morning and there isn't a lot of wiggle room when that deck lid first opens. I also think I like the look of the ABS plastic ones versus the aluminum ones.
I've never seen a Charger with the on to get a real idea, so I'm just looking for opinions on them.
They remind me of a BOSS Mustang my future bride had back in the day. The glass cleaning Q&A in the 1st replies here would have me balking. If it were hinged maybe.
I do like to blend in though. There are times when I don't want to be remembered.
