During consultation with mom's neurologist, I had to ask about Vicodin. He said absolutely, it can cause brain bleeding. Unfortunately, her short term memory was awful, and probably took too many.
What in the drug, and IRC it was 5/500, causes bleeding issues?

Hydrocodone easily passes the blood-brain barrier but acetaminophen does not. If fact, acetaminophen is the only analgesic recommended in cases of concussion where the risk of brain hemorrhage is substantial. All other NSAIDs can cause interference with the natural clotting process and should be avoided. Hydrocodone is absolutely contra-indicated in the case of concussion or stroke.

Lemme guess, Tylenol 3 (acetaminophen with codine)?
Something like that - bottle says HYDROCODON-ACETAMINOPH 7.5-500
Looks like I have a nice bottle of pain killers for my bug out bag I guess

Have you tried "prescription strength" Advil? (4 tablets at one time.)
I don't take any pain killer type meds too often but when I do it generally has to be almost double the regular dose anyways to do anything. Everyone in my family has unusually high tolerances for most stuff to begin with, (even though I'm only 150lbs). The doc was surprised how high they had to crank the laughing gas to get me to feel anything. Alcohol on the other hand... lets just say I'm a cheap date
Currently I'm starting and ending each day with 3-4 tylenol a pop and it seems to be working pretty well. On a random side note - Advil tends to make me agitated for some reason.

The company I work for specializes in applying our nano-technology to make NSAIDs more effective at a lower dose and thereby reducing the side effects.
NSAIDs are effective drugs but they have traditionally had to be given at higher doses than is necessary resulting in undesirable side effects..until now. We have been able to decrease the dose of currently used NSAIDs by up to 20% and retain the same effectiveness. Expect our first reformulated NSAID to be approved later this year followed closely by several others.
Your liver, heart and G.I. tract should be happy to hear that...
I am very proud to make good drugs better...and safer.
Wait until you see what we can do with Pulmonary and anti-cancer drugs!
Better living through technology...
