I guess my dilema is to keep my 2012 Superbee and Supercharge it for $6500 parts + $2000 for labor and have a 6.4L with 650 HP, or trade in me car - lose 10k on it's value and spend $60k on a 6.2L 2014 supercharged. Damn, I only have 500 miles on it.
Internals will be highly upgraded, as well as the remainder of the drivetrain to handle the horsepower/torque requirements. Direct Injection and other measures will be applied to deliver MPG
this i like - i wish they would have done this sooner. one of the really nice things about the top model mustangs is their forged parts that make adding power boosters much more user friendly (stock bottom end is good for like 1k+ HP or something). to upgrade the 6-10 charger you would first have to upgrade a lot of the "bottom" end components to forged parts to handle the extra power - whereas Ford comes with those capabilities already built in....

I just don't see getting an 600hp SRT8 of any kind for under 60K when the Viper only has 40 more horses.
one VERY major difference is the weight on the Viper vs the Charger (and, by proxy, HP per pound) - that's why you're paying more for the Viper - for the carbon fiber accents that lower the total weight....not just the extra 40 HP.

my 2c: keep the bee in factory condition - it will be worth good money down the road as a collectable due to its limited availability. i kick myself at least once a day for not paying the extra 400 or so dollars to upgrade to the '09 Bee (only 425 for '09 vs 1000 for the other years!!!). the Bee is already worth about 1k more than my stock SRT (though my SRT is still only 1k less than what i paid for it over 3 yrs ago). i might still try to get a used/low mileage '09 Bee to keep as a collectable - i wanna SC my Stock '09 SRT

You are aware that the 6.4's bottom end is all forged except to the the pistons, right?
The GT500 is supercharged and has 662hp at the crank. So, the bottom end SHOULD be all forged. On a "low-rev" naturally aspirated engine (like the 6.4), forged pistons are not necessary. Unless of course, if you want to add serious "boost" or "NOS" your car. In which case, forged pistons would be necessary. And if you got the money for a blower...
no, i wasn't aware the 6.4 had a fully forged bottom end. i know the 6.1's would need a considerable amount of upgrades before going too much over 500 WHP (Crank, Pistons, Push-Rods, etc...). i'm looking at spending close to 10k on a SC in the very near future. unfortunately, with the stock configuration i won't be able to go much over 10 Lbs because of those non-forged parts. and, while (just under) 10k is doable after a deployment, 15k (to upgrade the afore mentioned components so i can add more boost) is not doable.
question: if i can manage 500 HP (at the wheels) with 10 PSI boost, is it recommended to upgrade to a 3" exhaust? or would the stock 2.75 still be the best option? i know 1-2 folks with a SC'ed stock 6.1 (8-10 lbs)....did you keep the stock exhuast?

?? IIRC the 6.1L has a forged crank and rods, vs. the cast crank and sintered metal rods of the 5.7
Its not based on the old tech non-VCT 6.1L...sorry 06-10 guys, another blow to your egos. That block had pretty thin cylinder walls in NA form, Chrysler isn't about to bump displacement in it and top it off with a blower
Direct injection too? Royally doubt that...its possible though, but 90% not happening.
Bunch of info on this site about the '14's and the 6.2 engine
Chrysler unveiled the first 2nd gen charger SRT (2012) at the Chicago show in 2011 and they seem to unveil things every year at this show. The show is in 2 weeks. We might know more then
