At what mileage did you perform your first oil change?

1200 miles. Break in oil should never be left in over 2k imo.

Well, normally I do the first one at 1000 or around that, but this time I went close to 5000, and the oil looked good. I'm trying not to be as anal about it as I have been in the past so I'm just following the oil life monitor. I do use full synthetics with a good filter.

Regardless of the vehicle, always follow your owner's manual... the people who built the car know what they're doing

actually, when my parents bought their 2010 grand caravan the dealer explicitly told them NOT to change it so soon, as they were having complaints from customers who did early oil changes of poor fuel economy, and it was traced back to not being fully broken in on the original facotry fill. if you needed to change the oil that soon, it would say so in the owner's manual.

First oil change at around 2500 miles.
Second one at 7300 miles.
Both fully synthetic.

I did my first oil change at 1200. It's actually the use of synthetic oils that take longer for break in. Engines will break in sooner with regular non synthetic oils. I have no idea what oil comes in these engines from the factory.

What does it really mean for an engine to 'Break in'?
Does the same apply to the transmission, rotors and other crucial mechanical parts?
