Hey guys! Sorry for not updating you for a while.

As I understood now, the srt8 2012 charger does not have an IOD fuse, but that's not the case. I still did not try to remove the negative battery but I will do that today or tomorrow. I doubt that it is going to help but it's worth a shot.

I doubt because after playing around I found that my instrument panel does not have the option "Sound Horn With Lock" for some reason. Even the owners manual that is in my car, does not include that option. Nevertheless, I have the option "Sound Horn with Remote Start". At least that option is there.

This is a screenshot of the options I have in my car

This is a screen shot of the option from the owners manual that I have downloaded from www.dodge.com

The next thing that I shall do and check if it helps is:

1. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds,

2. Go to dealer & reflash the BCM,

3. Update the BCM, TSB and any other modules.

I hate that I can't see the version of my 8.4 system. I don't know if I have the latest software version for the system.

It's weird that I do not have "Sound Horn on Lock" option in my system.

Do you guys know how to find out the version of the system?

Thanks

Will update you on my findings.

Passed by the service center today and they told me to come back on Monday since its a weekend in the states and that they can't access the dodge server to get the latest BCM updates lame

BTW, the guys there finally confirmed that there are dodge chargers that have the "Sound Horn on Lock" feature working for them. This news was like bam, thanks god

I told them that as soon as we find a solution to the problem, you can contact all the customers that have complained to them (like me) and fix their cars.

Hopefully on Monday I will pass by them again and update the whole system in the car including all the modules and the 8.4 system.

Thanks guys for your support!

Will update when I get the results.

Just got an email from Chrysler US about the issue. Find below:

Message from me:

Quote:
Dear customer care, I am writing to you from Kuwait. I have recently
purchased an SRT8 Charger from the Dodge dealer in Kuwait. My issue is
that the feature "sound horn on lock/remote start" does not function. I
have tried to fix the issue with the local dealer but they are clueless
on
how to fix the issue. I really hope that you can assist me with my
current issue which I wish can be resolved by the local service center.
Just in case, my contact number is +965xxxxxxxx. I am a loyal customer
of Dodge and this is my second Dodge Charger (previously owned Charger
R/T
(R&T package). Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Ahmed
Response from Chrysler US

Dear Ahmed:

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Dodge Customer Assistance Center.

The "Sound Horn With Lock" feature will cause the horn to chirp when the
doors are locked with the RKE transmitter. This feature can be turned on
or turned off. To change the current setting, refer to ?Uconnect Touch?
Settings? in ?Understanding Your Instrument Panel? for further
information.

Press the More soft-key, then press the Settings soft-key to display the
menu setting screen. In this mode the Uconnect Touch? system allows you
to access programmable features that may be equipped such as Display,
Clock, Safety/Assistance, Lights, Doors & Locks, Auto-On Comfort &
Remote Start, Engine Off Operation, Compass Settings, Audio,
Phone/Bluetooth and SIRIUS
Setup.

NOTE: Only one touchscreen area may be selected at a time.

When making a selection, press the soft-key to enter the desired mode.
Once in the desired mode press and release the preferred setting until a
check-mark appears next to the setting, showing that setting has been
selected.

Once the setting is complete press the Back Arrow soft-key to return to
the previous menu or press the X soft-key to close out of the settings
screen. Pressing the Up or Down Arrow soft-keys on the right side of the
screen will allow you to toggle up or down through the available
settings.

Select the "Sound Horn With Lock" setting. When this feature is
selected, the horn will sound when the remote start is activated. To
make your selection, touch the Sound Horn With Lock soft-key, until a
checkmark appears next to setting, showing that setting has been
selected. Touch the back arrow soft-key to return to the previous menu.

Your email was received by the Customer Assistance Center that addresses
issues with vehicles currently in the United States. If you require
further assistance, we recommend that you contact our office responsible
for the Kuwaiti market area by calling 971-4-4456-416 or via email
cgmecc@chrysler.com That Center is staffed with trained professionals,
ready to address your concerns.

Thank you again for your email.
Will try to solve the issue at the dealer first and if nothing happens, then I will get in touch with Middle East Chrysler and try to fix it with them.

More updates soon.

Thanks!

Finally visited the service center.

The Technicians Manager has showed me an email related to a previous customer who had the same problem. The manager was communicating with the Chrysler engineers who are in charge of the feature. The engineers replied and wrote that all the cars that are exported from the states have the option "Sound on horn lock or remote start" DISABLED because the other countries have some lame excuse that its related to Urban noise.

Only vehicles in the states have the option enabled.

I guess my trip is ended

I will try to contact the Middle East office which is in Dubai to try and convince them to enable the option on my car.

Btw, The latest modules software that were updated for the cars in Kuwait have disabled the option and as I understand that the software in USA and the other countries are different.
