Either way, it's a driver's race. The cars are pretty much equal. I speak from experience.
If the '08 R/T and the G8 GT were even with a "razor's edge" to the G8, then how could you possibly say something with 20 (or more; sorry I don't know the exact number) more horsepower is going to be a "driver's race". 20hp can do a whole lot.

Peak HP numbers mean nothing. Peak torque numbers mean nothing. Acceleration is ALL about:
1) torque curve at the wheels
2) vehicle weight
3) gearing (incl. tire height)
and to some lesser extent, depending on vehicle speeds
4) aerodynamics
It's why cars in the 200hp range have been known to whup cars in the 300hp range.
(and even then it's not black/white: the torque curve can change depending on torque management routines, spark knock retard, and so forth... along with time lost during upshifts, etc.)

Torque management and a six speed auto transmission have a lot to do with it. Plus the G8 is 180# lighter than the Charger. Don't misread what I am trying to say. I am not looking for a pissing contest. I love both cars. Both cars are awesome. Both cars are the very last of a dying breed. And if you read the G8 boards, any owner (ruling out the requisite morons you find on any board) will tell you the same thing: Driver's race.

Roman 371, I still think it's a driver's race. The only real advantage to the GXP is the 6speed manual and the 6 speed auto. Plus, it's a bit lighter than the SRT. In any case, both cars are wicked cool. I have the G8 GT, which Car and Driver clocked to sixty in 5 seconds flat. I got the same results. It's a pretty amazing car. So is the Charger.

No doubt about that, so similar you can pretty much pick the one that appeals the most to you.

Exactly. In any case, your GT 500 will wipe its ass with either the G8, the Charger, or both at the same time. Sweet ride. Amazing what you can accomplish with a supercharger. Speaking of which, I am considering installing one on my G8 GT. Because catbacks, CAI, and a 93 tune simply are not enough!
