hi there

I'm planning to be the future owner of a Charger SRT-8:rocker: (Dream come true!) but I know for a fact that I'm not going to be impressed with the Kicker system in the car, because I'm very much into music and so I really want a sound system to blow my head away.
I don't just want 425hp under the hood... I need "425hp" of sound inside the car, you know hehe:rocker:

I've been trying to search for an answer and to an extent I've found some, but I'm just not dead certain about this, so please help.

I really like the factory head unit because of the capabilities like the wireless handsfree for your phone, steering wheel controls, hard drive space for storing music, aux and usb inputs, dvd playback in the front and rear of the car, etc.

So I want to keep the factory head unit but I want to upgrade all of the speakers, amp and sub.
So the Kicker system in the SRT8 has like 11 speakers (i might be mistaken).
Is it surround sound?

Because if it is, that would mean more amps to drive the different groups of speakers. (not that I mind spending the money for a decent system)
And then another amp to drive the sub.

My question is:
Can this be done?
I understand its going to take alot of rewiring beacuse you probably have to take the wires from the head unit into to the trunk so that it can go into the amp and then back to the different speakers.
Would that work?
I also read about the JL Audio cleansweep and rockford fosgate 3sixty.1 that would also be an option to make the system better.

Please help me out on my plans.
I'm willing to spend alot on this cause I NEED it hehe
Has anybody done something like this? keeping the factory mygig head unit and upgrading the all the rest of the system?

I'm pretty sure with the technology of today, it is possible, but I'm not sure how.

Thanks you for all your help and suggestions!:D

I cant answer all your questions but I can a few.
Yes there is a regular sterio and surround sound, you can pick between the two on the dhc. I have the 13 speaker system and there is not 13 speakers, only 8 to include the sub. When they say 13 they are talking dual purpose speakers. the only thing that I dont like about the system and it does rock pretty good is the fact there is no treble in the back, only mids and bass. I think you would just have to match speaker impedences to what ever amps your pushing. Look into whats called a mygig lockpic too, it has RCA inputs for different applications.

No need for a Cleansweep, 360, or Re-Q. All you need is the PAC C2A-CHY adapter to an add amp (or amps). I've made several posts about it you can look up, or you can just call PAC.

Definitely stay away form processors like the cleansweep, 3sixty, and the Re-Q. Just like repth said there not needed for this setup. Your best bet is to go with the PAC C2A-CHY this will give you A four channel full range output and unlike the cleansweep you will still use your factory volume knob. As far as the amp goes if you go with a digital 5- channel amp like the JL audio HD 900/5 it can fit under the front seat or JL's newer and smaller amps the NEX-D might even fit in the factory location.

with that 4 channel output on the PAC how do I get a subwoofer out from a 5 channel amp if there are only 4 channels of input? sorry if its a dumb question but Im a stereo noob. I want to have a single 5 channel power all my speakers....can it be done with the PAC add a amp if there are only 4 channels?

do I also need the pac audio lc-2 in conjunction with the C2A-CHY in order to power the speakers and sub with a 5 channel amp? Argh, so many choices.....what about the PAC AOEM-CHR2 Im confused as to what I need to run a 5ch amp and power everything from that. any help would be appreciated

A lot of 5 channel amps come with or have an optional sub control knob . If not then get the PAC LC-2 . Use Y adapters to Y the front rca output to the LC-2 input and the front amp input.

Mahalo! thanks so much, thats one of the answers ive been looking for. Y off of the front line in order to get the subwoofer channel, and no LC needed if amp has control. Aloha!

-the last one Im trying to solve is which PAC to get for my '07 SRT8....the AOEM-CHR2 or the C2A-CHY

any opinions on the best 6.5" components I can get for the 200 dollar range? was think Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, maybe Infinity Kappas....I dont know enough about speakers and many review sites are lacking information. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking 6.5 components in front and 6x9 three ways in the back.

well in that budget range I would go with alpine spr-17s 6.5" separates and spr-69c 6x9 for the rear. Its hard to say a good thing about alpine any more but, their less exspensive speakers sound great for the price. We use the type-r 6x9s in alot of jobs always with good results. If you can get a few more bucks together boston pros would be the way to go for the front .

Cool, thanks for the info. Ill look up the boston pros and save some more money. Not in a big rush. Id like to spend my money wisely and not regret my purchase.
