Navigation joystick problem and slow loading

I just bought a nav unit off ebay and installed it. Most everything works great, but the joystick sticks going up and down-will scroll through everything on the page. If I tap it to the side, it will stop. The enter button also seems to work kind of goofy-have to press and hold for a second to make it take. It changes slowly from screen to screen when entering info, but maybe normal? Everything works fine otherwise, nav screen scrolls nicely going down street, etc.

I have seen multiple posts on joystick upgrades and replacements, but nothing saying what the actual problem is they are having.

I probably got hosed on a pile of junk-typical.

First of all, welcome to the forums!

The joystick problem is that the joysticks sometimes fail prematurely and need to be replaced. If you're handy with a soldering iron, Mr. Incredible did a nice write-up of how to replace it.

Not sure on the slowness of the unit, though. I suppose it could be that the joystick is making intermittent contact and getting things confused.
