If your referring upgrading from the stock converter to an aftermarket with a high stall, think of it like driving a car with a manual transmission. Take off from about 1500 RPMs and the car feels "ok". But if you bring the RPMs up to about 2800 and then let her rip, you'll thrown into the seat and the car will launch alot harder (traction permitting). Relating this to a supercharger, boost builds with the RPMs. So the faster you get the RPMs up, the faster your boost will increase and the faster your going to hold on! :)

In your opinion as far as mods go would this be one of the best seat of the pants upgrades.

When it comes to basic bolt-on mods, a torque converter upgrade is one of the better seat of the pants mods that you can do. You can see a 3 tenth improvement with good traction. One person described it like being shot out of a cannon after his converter upgrade. I've never been shot out of a cannon so I took his word for it :)

We can arrange it Tom. :-) Like Tom said, it's a great mod. One thing though is that certain cams work better with a torque converter. It's just another piece of the puzzle. I'll be doing the whole shebang in Jan. Cam,heads,TC, headers. Good luck.

Very nice, I'm making plans on building a stroker motor. I first thought I liked the idea of a 392 and being able to have a lighter rotating assembly and spinning the motor up higher. Then I thought about the bench racing I could do with a 426, and when people ask whats under the hood to be able to say a 426. Of course then I saw the 440 and all bets are off now. I may never be able to use 600+ horsepower but it sure would be cool to say it. I built a 347 Stroker for my Mustang and it made 636rwhp, that was a hell of a car.

Sounds like a great plan Ace. Just something to think about if you plan on all that hp is thee transmissions. I have run with some of the heavy hitters, and seen them go into limp mode quite often. It's nice to have the power there. Getting it to the tarmac is a different story. Good luck and keep us posted.
