Question for those who have been through the install.
1. How much clearance is there around the back of the grill?
Installing the heavier mesh is requiring a little extra jbweld since that mesh does not bend as easy as thinner mesh might.
2. It seems to me there is a bit of flex in both the upper and lower inserts. Would it be a better fit to JB weld the botoms and sides and leave the tops until after the fit? Seems you could get a worse fit if you flex the grill installing the mesh, then not be able to adjust for a good fit.
3. Has anyone that installed the lower grill had problems with getting it to fit and set flush? mine seems a little bowed on the bottom. Not sure if it will pull down once bolted in. Also what is the clearance there? Again I had to build up weld around the back pretty heavy in some spots

Your thoughts?

I have the lower insert. Had no problems for a first time install. It does take 4 hands to install and have it set flush. I did mine solo and it is a hair protruding but nothing I am ashamed of. I don't know what you are building up with the JB, maybe a bit more information.

Here is my install.

I am using weld to attach the mesh, using powercoated steel mesh
Yours looks like oem honeycomb. Nice
Could not find a piece that big for the deep dish and wanted mine to match

Thanks for those pics, do you have one further back of the front of the vehicle?

These are the most recent. None from a low angle. I tried to get some OEM SRT8 lower grille honeycomb to mate the lower insert, but gave up when I did'nt think it would hold very well.

I'm sure you will like your end product.

Good luck.

From what I remember, where you put the JB Weld for the grille should be a non-issue. I bent the mesh over the edges and then JB Welded it in. I believe that the back portion of the grille sits in a big open area between the grille and the radiator. Also, the grille tapers down to a smaller diameter compared to the front of the grille.

I am hoping for that.
There is a bit of flex in the top of the deep dish, and bottom of the lower.
I left those sides unfastened until I get a good fit. then I am going to weld those in place.

It seems to me you could warp the grill with mesh totally in place and cause a problem with the fit.

Guess I will findout next weekend.
